something about this update has reduced my score/hour and number of deaths drastically for unknown reasons.

Likes:
Lattice system
Price reductions

Dislikes:
Jackhammer stealth nerf
MAX abilities
Phoenix static screen

It is entertaining. Not exactly a dealbreaker.

I can only say that the update is OK. There're no significant changes in it, except for the Lattice and defensive redesigns and even Lattice I consider very controversial.

SCU mechanic is very broken.

On Connery, VS have held Saurva Biolab for 8+ hours, you literally cannot take the base as any point capture is zerged and there is no way in hell of getting it past the shield threshold, thought the crown was an interpretable fortress.. Biolabs are dead zones in the lattice links now. Currently id guess 40% of the TR pop is there 'farming' so NC and VS are just eating up the rest of the links..

Dont really notice that lattice, I can go cap this base but not this base is really all its done, which has really brought to light how a huge army > all tactics. Why have a well drilled tactical spec ops team when 2 platoons can zerg your location and win due to sheer numbers. The battlefield is akin to WW1 trenches now... Massed infantry attacks to take a small bit of land then do it all over again for the same next small base.

Its made PS2 alot less enjoyable I found, having more fun playing Stronghold kingdoms ....

When has this not been the case? It's not a new issue with the lattice. It's just how zerg warfare has always been. Numbers > tactics. That's not even new to Planetside 2... it is a problem in all large scale pvp games.

Pretty much this. I think for large bases like Biolabs, you should be able to capture the perimeter bases to "connect the hardline" around the base and bypass it. It shouldn't completely stall the advance, it should force the enemy out of the base to defend the perimeter bases.

At the same time I think small bases should give the defenders a greater advantage. Right now having greater numbers gives too much of an attacking advantage. I want more Alamo type fights where two squads can hold off two platoons for a while (by holding A while not holding B and C, for example), if they play their cards right, and not just in Biolabs. But not indefinitely. The lattice system favors the zerg far too much, and the only counter strategy is to zerg harder. That's not what I'm looking for out of PS2.

On the positive side, GU9 made a significant improvement to my FPS. It has made the game a lot more playable to me. I still get annoying crashes to the desktop with equal frequency as before, but while I'm in the game, the FPS is noticeably better. They should be congratulated on that.

This

Biolabs were already pretty bad to begin with. Now they're just a completely different game entirely that's also allowed to strongly affect this game. It'd be like allowing "Dust" to ruin the majority of the meta Game for EVE players...

It's alright. I think that I like the lattice but not sure that I really have a grip on the strategic implications at this point. Also, I'm pretty familiar with Indar, so all the base and zone changes are a little disorienting, which I'm sure will pass with time.

Leaving the vehicle turret jitter behind, hopefully to never return, is wonderful.

However, a lot of people seem to be having their game crash much more often. I rolled back my NVIDIA driver to 314.22 and that seemed to fix it for me, but some people are saying that didn't help them.

If anything, the choice of places to spawn when redeploying have gotten worse. There's often no discernible logic to it. I was at one of the Tawrich hexes last night that borders Regent Rock and couldn't even deploy to Regent Rock. I could, however, choose from several bases surrounding the VS warpgate or a few up around the Indar Excavation area. WTF?

This this this this this this this.

I freaking love the lattice, but the stealth-nerf they did on the Vortex ruined the patch for me. Not even ZOE could cheer me up. At least tell us why you did it!

Well, so far it's pretty much what I expected from the lattice, wherein everyone is basically funneled into giant stalemate battles.

The big fights are cool and all, but the expected drawbacks are also there. My computer can't handle it, so my game quickly descends into a slideshow, I feel much more restricted in how I can contribute in a small group or by myself, and the death from all directions thing is significantly exacerbated.

Tonight we had a complete stalemate between TR and Vanu at Hvar and a group of like 6 of us broke out and got behind enemy lines, where we could have cut off the Vanu and perhaps broken the stalemate, but because the connection wasn't there, we couldn't start taking anything and were stuck just harassing their troops until they eventually killed us all.

Another thing I've noticed is it really highlights how bad the base design and capture mechanics are when you smash that many people into one area. It's like they're designed with spawn camping as the objective, instead of taking the base. 30 tanks in a circle around a spawn room just pounding away at it while the timer runs down is just silly.

I need more time with it to really assess how I feel about it, but so far my impression is not terribly positive.

Im guesing answers will range from BEST UPDATE EVER to WTF PIECE OF SHIT GAME IS DEAD. As with almost every major update to almost evey game in existance.

As for me apart from the random disconnecting and the rdidicoulus power of lockdown bursters (thats more of an issue with burstes not lockdown in particular) I like where this is going.
