Release?

I just saw a post saying PS was to ship in Dec. 2003... very far. Ive also heard March too. Big Difference. Anyone have any thoughts?

Planetside's official FAQ says Q1 of 2003. So that will probably be around march. Whgere did you hear that it was coming outn in dec. 2003?

You've gotta know it's going to take longer than March just to do a beta test, unless they end up like Anarchy Online and release it too early, in which case if they do that I'd kill them....all.

MMO release dates are much altered by their respective betas and rarely ever hit gold unless the dev team decides there's been enough internet beta testing. Neocron was in beta for at least a year.

They are two different animals.

What I heard when I visited SOE was March or so, they were pretty confident.. As for DEC 2003, where the heck did u read that?

No way will it be Dec 2k3. As our great Hamma stated this is NOT a MMORPG, it's an FPS, a lot less stuff to manage. And the game is already done the only thing left is debugging(hence beta) i really doubt they will spend a whole year debugging. I think a March release is pretty realistic, maybe April.

Alrighty, but if they release it in March and it ends up being too early do I get to kill you too Dio?

March-April does sound realistic for an FPS, but things could go wrong. Neocron was "done" when they started testing too.

With all of those preview reviews though, it seems like Planetside is much more done than not done, so I think it'll be ok.

Well i dunno about Neocron but from what Hamma saw in the press beta and the internal going on now it seems pretty much well done and with exclusive starting soon it should mean a "bug-free" (a game is never bug-free

) copy of PS "soon" so maybe it will take longer than March or April but NO way will it be Dec 2k3. If PS comes out in Dec2k3 then sure you can kill me.

They better not fucking release it until it's TOTALLY finished. I don't want another nightmare of a game like T2 was when it came out.

I'm not sure what the folks at gamespy are smoking, or what company paid them off this time. But DEC is definatly false.. theres no way it will go that long

What ever happened to summer 2002, hehe I saw a site that hadn't been updated in a long time advertising a preorder for July 17th 2002, I don't have the site, but I thought it was kinda odd.
