When i was playing on a server earlier, Vanu had all the bases under their control on Searhus, so I told everyone, and they said "Who cares, it's their continent" Can someone tell me what they are talking about, "who's continent is whos" and what's the point of trying to capture bases on their continents.

Err, a factions continents would be its 1-hops, for NC this would be Solsar, Hossin, and Cyssor.
But the thing about Searhus is, it is a 2-hop for every faction, so it is infact not a "vanu continent". It is an internation thing, shared by all, like Antartica. There is no reason not to capture bases on a factions home conts though, they are just the same as any other, except are usualy held by the empire that has that sanctuary link.

an empire can lock a continent when they control all of the facilities. it turns your color on the global map, and you can no longer use drop pods to enter. now it is considered 'your' continent, as you have complete control.
you capture bases on their continent to remove that lock, and preferably to eventually take it all and lock it for yourself. as for the 'who cares' reply, that is because these are the lamers who wont start their own fight. they follow everyone else to big battles, then complain about the lag or zerg. i personally love going solo into a locked continent and hacking every base that has a gateway link (that is; when you own a base on the other side of a warpgate, you get a link through the gate to a base in the corner of that continent) if you're lucky you might have 2-3 links and get to cause some hell. |

There is 3 warpgates in each empires sanc. Theese warpgates each go to seperate continents. All of the continents connected to an empires sanctuary is considered that empires sanctuary, or their home terf. Some times called their backyard.

Correct me if I am wrong, but for all RG's except the sanctuary WG's to continent lock you have to own every facility on the continent and the facility on the other side of the continents WG's.
because if thats not the case Ishunder has a bug that you cant cont lock it... or am I missing something ? we capped all the towers and all the bases, yet didnt go cont lock.
