Will a new motherboard fix this?

My comp is screwed, as everyone knows. After I install planetside, my sound stuff, and my GeForce 4, it goes to hell. I turn it on, it gets to the teal background... and turns off. The opening sound keeps playing, so it looks like it's just the monitor that's being disabled. Will a new motherboard help this, something else, what caused this? Any info at all will help.
