Ut2k3's probably my current third favorite game, behind Warcraft III and Planetside. I'm pretty decent at it, if I do say so myself. You'd have to be more specific on exactly what you want for tips, though. Some thing you just need to practice till you get the timing and twitch reflexes down. Here are some things I've learned that are rather important:

1) Never do what the enemy expects you to do. If you get into a firefight and he backs off, sometimes follow him, sometimes don't, depending on what weapon you have. If you're too agressive, you could lead yourself right into an ambush of three rockets, a glob of snot, and shock combo, generally nasty stuff. Take it easy.

2) Know when to back off and heal. Don't settle for a complete death if you can help it: learn where the health packs and shields are, and REMEMBER THEM. Staying away from some enemies and collecting powerups can increase your killing power (heh) substantially.

3) Know what weapon to use for the situation. I use the mousewheel to quickly scroll through my weapons, which makes it a lot quicker to get to the one I want. Lightning and Shock rifle work well at long ranges, Rocket launcher, snot gun and Flak cannon work well at short ranges, and generally everything else works at middling ranges. Know 'em, learn 'em, love 'em.

4) Be wary of an opponent with a shock rifle. Lordy Lordy, be wary of an opponent with a shock rifle. They can wipe the floor with you if you're not careful. I used to think that the shock combo was terribly overbalanced, until I learned number 1. When and opponent has a shock rifle, keep your distance, try not to pursue them. It's unhealthy.

5) Load up rockets for your rocket launcher, and learn when to cluster/spread them. Typically, it's faster to load up three rockets and blast your enemy in one fell swoop then to slowly pick away at them with one rocket at a time. Learn to cluster your rockets ALL THE TIME (hold the right mouse button, while holding the right mouse button beging holding the left mouse button, release right mouse button to fire). It's one of the devestating moves in the game. Once you learn how to do that, slowly UNLEARN it, and discern between situations where you should spread your rockets (for an opponent who's difficult to get a bead on) and when to cluster them (for the most damage you can dish out).

5) Liberally apply hot wax for brighter, cleaner follicles.

6) Practice. I know that sounds odd, but it's really what controls how well I do. If I play consecutively for a week, I'll perform awesomely. If I stick to Planetside for a week, I'll play like crap in UT2k3. The more you play, the more you get into the "feel" of the game.

Anything else, just ask.

I don't get some of the stuff you were saying about the rocket launcher. It always fires immediately after I get three rockets loaded. Is there any way to stop this? And you mentioned being able to control the spread of the rockets somehow. Could you explain how you do this better?

Yes, it automatically fires after you have three rockets loaded, and there is no way to prevent this. If you hold down the right mouse button and release it/hold it until it's loaded three rockets, the rockets will fire in a fan pattern, spreading out over distance. If you holddown the right mouse button, and then hold down the left mouse button as well, the rockets will fire in a "cluster" pattern which will not spread over distance.

A trick I learned while playing online wit it is to be on high elavation above an enemy. Then, when they come out or wutevr, jump down on top of 'em. Gunz Blazin' or not, it's an exelent menuver cuz if u don't fire on da way down, if u land behind them u can shoot 'em from behind. It's a classic death from above. Also if sum1 has a bead on u, JUMP AROUND. MOvin targets r hard 2 hit. (Just don't do it around ledges.)

Heh, I just re-installed the game. Graphics are messed though. I used to own at it, because I was used to fast paced, one-hit kill thing.
