I find most freezes and lockups in PS from you doing something your computer just can't quite handle.
What are your general computer specs? What OS you using? When we last time you formatted? What video drivers you using? Have you looked up tweaks for your video to make sure your bios and windows settings are good? |

Ok, here are my system specs:
Windows 98 AMD Athelon XP 2000+, MMX, 3dNOW, 1.7GHz Processer 512 MB Ram memory DirectX 9.0 MSI MS-STARforce GEforce 4 MX 440 (Nvidia) Thats about it, i can run PS at full graphics setting without lag on any server, but on east and west side servers (I live on the west side) there are serious stability issues (less on the western server) such as freezing during loading sequences, completey quitting the game instantly and stuf like that |

Windows 98 is going to be your biggest problem. Its just barely supported anymore. I've seen tons of ppl post about all kinds of issues that went away after ditching 98.
Other than that, just throwing more resources at the problem may help. Another 512 ram, improved video card. I don't know if I would be playing with the highest settings on what you currently have either. Toning it down may help lock ups quite a bit. |
