256ram

I am currently running on a P3 1Ghz proccesor, 256megs of ram, a geforce4 is there any hope for my running this game at the moment as this seems to be below the minimum requirements or is this subject to much change. I am unable to buy anything expensive as i am 14 .

I would seriously reccomend upgrading your processor and ram It might do fine if there are just a few people on screen... but get in any decent sized fight and your framerate will go straight south.

As cheap as ram is, I can't understand why everyone doesn't have at least 512 MBs. I have pretty much the exact same setup as you, and I have already made plans to build a new system. It's not looking good for those of us with dinky processors (of course when I bought mine, the best you could get was 1.2 GHZ, so I guess it's time to upgrade).

Upgrade your RAM for sure. You may be able to run it on 256 but it'll look bad and run slow...RAM for P3s is cheap anyway..

More RAM. The processor will probably bog occasionally, but you can be assured of lost frames and reduced _fun_ when Windows/PS has to hit the swap file.

Go to www.crucial.com and grab an extra 512 for that thing. You will be able to feel the difference.

Yeah, I imagine you're processor will do fine... I'm running on a P3 1.2 (somewhere around there) and by the release of PS I'll have 512 MB and a Radeon 9000 pro

I still don't understand how any vid cards but the geforce fx could possibly handle 100 people on their screen at once with good fps.

They are working on getting the minimum specs down, but even IF they drop the minimum ram below 512mb you should skill upgrade. Ram is so cheap it's the easiest thing you can do to upgrade your comp and it will make a big difference.

Actually, Dave posted something about the system requirements on the official forums. I believe there was a guy who asked how the continents were going to be loaded, so Dave responded something like this:

"When you enter a continent, a thumbnail texture loads for everything you might see on the continent. When your system isn't doing anything system intensive larger textures are loaded.
...
We're including an option to play with the thumbnails only for the people with 256mb RAM (yes, we're working on lowering our system requirements."

I'll see if I can find the exact post for you, but it looks like you should be able to play with 256 right now.
