I know some ppl here like to try and keep their machine close to top of the line. Well the bar has been raised and this sucker puts it out of reach of even me for now.
http://www.go-l.com/desktops/machl38/features/index.htm Check out the store at the bottom for the different versions. I would have to have the Extreme. The PuRam stuff looks incredible. Hopefully they will make a FX version. |

Holy shit that things awsome! imagine ps with 16gb of memory
It sound's like it uses and asus MB do to the refferences to AI sound and Q fan is asus's temperature controled fan thing I would get a P4 ee at that speed, in the TGH test before they had to retract the 3.4 and 3.6 ghz P4EE speed due to a NDA or something the 3,6 woomped the 64 and 64-FX in every category, the p4ee 3.2 ghz still beat is somthign like 32 to 15

I can build it way cheaper than they have it for, and probably do a better job. $8k is WAY overpriced for what you get there. I could build the same thing for less than half that, but I'd have a dual processor board and 2GB RAM, because you don't need 8GB RAM, it's just overkill and wasted money. Their choice of video cards is good, but custom case would look cooler. Also, they overclock the chips. Nothing difficult to do with a good cooling system. I've managed to get 2.4's running at almost 3Ghz. The monitor looks cool though.
Also, get some WD Raptor drives in that thing. They're 10k RPMs and are the fastest drives outside of SCSI that I've seen. |

You didn't look at all the tech behind the system then. There is some stuff in there that is not openly available in the aftermarket. I have Raptors, and they would get smoked by the PuRam system. The custom cooling in the thing is also about as good as it gets, I bet its as good or better than the best water cooling in the market.
Also if you go dual and Intel, you can only go Xeons. Normal P4's cannot be dualed. And Xeon's suck. They have some new Opteron systems also, which go up to 16 gb of ram. When apps start taking advantage of 64 bit, the 2gb memory limits your living in will be long gone and memory will be the new system god. |
