In the past two patches, I seem to have encountered more and more deaths from galaxy drops. I'm usually a pilot and someone on the gal drops and the gal hits them. So, I'm asking other people what their experiences with this has been.
Is this the cost of gal drops? It just happens and we all move along? Is there something you do as a gal pilot that eleminates these deaths? Is coming to a complete stop the ONLY way to have a death/injury free drop?

Pull up slightly just before they drop. If you're tilted down at all it's very easy to accidentally kill them.

Basically, my SOP has been since the retail release to line up on a drop location, don't turn or strafe at all. Hit Alt-R to level up and maybe throttle down a little before hitting the drop zone.
I still have people die. Tilting up is the only thing I havn't tried so I'll give it a go. Thanks Elf.

Tilting up seems to help more with dropping vehicles than people, but from when I used to fly a gal way back I always tilted up a bit (10-15 degrees or so) a little bit before I hit the drop area and I think I only remember one person ever dieing and that was because I think I bailed just before he did. Also, make sure when people start dropping you aren't actually changing your direction anymore. I did notice that being in the process of tilting up while people were dropping would tend to kerplut people sometimes as well.
I also think lag can play into it as well. I haven't done a lot of testing on this though. In the end however It can still be kind of an annoying issue. It sould definately requie less work to not run over your hot droppers.

To be honest, I think it's the location that people appear when they Alt-G. For some reason, it will put then higher up than they should be and BAM.

What always happens with me is the galaxy I'm dropping from doesn't kill me, it's that if we drop from really high up, I'll land on the gal roof, the kinetic boots stop when I land on the gal, then I plummet to my death when I fall of the gal. Same thing has happened to me before when I bailed from my reaver.

I think if you load people up in empire heavy buggies, then load those into 2 Gals with 4 MAXs, you can squeeze an entire platoon into 2 Gals. Dropping that on a base would be some big mojo.
edit: unless of course Deliverers fit in Galaxies, and they you could definitely do it.

Can you have passengers in vehicles that are in the cargo bay of a Galaxy? I seem to remember you couldn't but then I've spent little time on the heavy buggies so /shrug

You could be right, heavy transport isn't my cup of tea. Just musing.
