Load times are significantly better. Smoothness of game play increases. Depending on how strong the rest of your system is, it'll help quite a bit during large battles also. But being able to hold good frames during a zerg is a combination of memory, cpu, and video. So you got to have all 3 strong to do it well.

You won't regret it either way.

Ever notice how the game pauses for a second while the door from the Sanc spawn room pauses? Or you get odd momentary freezes are JUST the wrong time?

Gone. It'll be a different game, trust me. You still need strong video for the truly huge moshing zergfests, however. That GF4 should be enough, I only really slow down during the larger fights on my GF3 (and if you need some extra frames, kill the foliage. That can increase FPS by as much as 10 in some situations.)

I only have 512 ram in this computer and I kinda regret it, I play battle field 1942 DC more than planetside now and when the battles get really intense It starts getting choppy, still playable but its just irratating! Its also probauly because I only have a 64mb graphics card.

If I were you though I'd defiently go with a gig of ram, get two 512 chips with heat spreaders. A friend of mine says there only 115 a piece which is really cheap! its less than a quarter per ram!

You wont crash and you'll play more "smoothly" and get higher frame rates.

My FPS didn't really go up, but it is certainly is FAR more consistent now.

And heat spreaders? Neh. Optional. If you've got a well-cooled case (and you're not overclocking your RAM) then they're somewhat frivolous.

Update: Im not overclocking anything so i do agree that those heatspreaders would be useless

I don't know, I only buy Corsair XMS which always has heatspreaders. I like it that way, they do get warm, not hot though. Makes the ram feel more protected to, less chance of static discharge.

Supposedly what those heat spreaders do is keep all the memory warm and ready, so when you start to use the normally "dormant" sections, they are pre warmed and ready.. Not sure if its true, just what i heard from my boss.
