black hawk down style

this is a crosspost, but it just came to me so i thought id make a new thread of it.

i would love to see a flying short bus. maybe the size of a lib, but has 1 pilot, 4 passengers, and a tailgunner. that would be awesome. the passengers could either "eject" or rope down (ie Black Hawk Down style). Pilot has a 8 pod rocket launcher, no boost; tail gunner a 20mm gun. Passengers can use thier weapons from the sidebay, but damage also hits them directly (ala Tribes1).

I feel this would be an excellent addition to the lodestar. anyway the question is that:

Would you fly this "Insert Craft Name Here", or if not would you at least welcome its presence onto the battlefield?

I would love to drop from one.

That would make the enemy feel really special. Getting killed by 4 people dropping out of a short bus.

Possibly be fun, but I would give it two sidemounted guns that can cover most of the craft, probably 12 mm, two regular passenger slots and a single MAX slot. No guns for the pilot though. If it's nice and fast it could make a decent firefighter, or if you give it radar resistance it could make a good secops vehicle.

I do think the regular deliverer should be given radar resistance as well.

Edit: maybe have a ground attack version that replaces the passenger slots with an underslung turret mounted 75mm, but that might be a bit much without decent infantry AA.

Yeah, I've seen variations of this type of thing posted around before.

Personally, I was thinking a ball turret Machine Gun, and the then 4-6 people in the back (inf to heavy, no MAXes) would be able to fire out of there. Or if it's a side loader, out of the sides. Make it fairly fast (Considerably faster than the Gal) and give it a smaller silhouette. Lighter armor, as well.

And be sure NOT to give the pilot any guns - with a fast, light transport, they might get into a fighter mentality and attack any random target of opportunity.

And an addition to maybe the Lodestar/Galaxy which was proposed back in the day is a supply chest. Basically, a trunk that the pilot can hot-drop, allowing for more Decimators or whatever they want to pack.

I remember someone posted something similar to this one time. make a air vehicle with a passenger area similar to a UH-17 Black Hawk. Make it so the floor is "magnetic" and anyone can go in there, deci crew, snipers, you name it.

The problem with all these ideas is they'd require a major overhall to PSides physics engine, not that i find a problem with that midn you. Operation Flashpoint has both little birds and blackhawks and its was a blast to do fast rope attacks.

Congrats the devs are already working on a half squad air transport. Idk if u will be able to do what u want with it tho. They said it would not be what we expect.

If that comes into being I'll cert for an AA max.
Can't you just jump out of a galaxy like anyone else?

If they make that vehicle, you could kiss the number of Galaxys you see goodbye.
