More FFXI advice please

Well Christmas is just around the corner, and I want to be able to jump right in once I open it up. I'm trying to plan my 2nd job once I get 18, so can you guys give me some advice on what to do here.

I'm pretty sureI'm going to be a warrior as my main job to start out, althougha black mage sounds kool.

At 18 I think I'll get white mage as my secondary, make it my primary and get it to level 9. Then I'll go back to warrior, level him to 30 and then get my real secondary job and make it my primary. Now here are my picks for the new job: Tell me which you like/hate and why

Dark Knight
Ninja
Samurai
Dragoon
Ranger

My friend told me ranger sucks cause all you buy is ammo. He's going to be a paladin, so I would think dark knight would be a good combo. But dragoon looks cool and ninja/samurai sound fun.

It isn't called troll-planet.com yet either.

Anyway, if your friend is playing a PAL, it would be a good idea to play DRK.

If you want to play samurai or something you could always use that as your sub instead of warrior. DRK/SAM is always a nice combo

Im a lvl 14 WHM, and at 18 im switching to MNK/WHM, then at 30, im goingDRK/WHM probably. Taru's with scythes just make me hott.

I'm a lvl 64 WHM and a lvl 33 BMG, and I'm loving it, once you get past lvl 30 as a WHM, lots of new opportunities open up.

I was in the original beta (Japanese), I had it imported from Japan and burned copies, me and my friends partied together in beta.

A new FFXI post every day is a bit excessive, Hamma has even mentioned that.

I'm probably going to pick this up as soon as I can. My computer won't run it very well right now but I'll be upgrading shortly (chistmas bonus was a bit more than I was expecting /dance ). I'm both apprehensive and excited about learning another MMORPG game but then when I look back the first few months of playing EQ, the time where I had no idea what the fuck was going on, were definately the most fun.
