It's been two weeks since the Battle COncentration Initiative (i.e. server merger). What is your impression of the fighting?
I used to be on Konried, and I really like being able to have a battle always available, Instant Action is great now. The zergs are a little much and I'm getting sick of seeing so many VS Maxes, I have always enjoyed the smaller 2-3 squads vs 2-3 squads action you could find on Konried, all in all I give it a B+.\ ~Tide |

The BCI was urged long before it happened, and now that it has happened, PlanetSide is twice the game it once was.
Don't get me wrong, I loved Konried like a Vanu loves his subscription to Ripples and Wrinkles magazine, but the new merged servers just seem so much closer to the level of intensity that the devs had in mind. The only thing I hate is the long timer to switch empires. I long to return to the Terran Republic, but if I can't level my n00b when I'm sick of helping the mighty TR, why should I? If they made the timer one hour, I'd be a happy, happy man, despite the fact that I have holiday depression and my family is insane.

On Emerald it has been great. Pre-merge, I would log in at odd times and be lucky to find one or two hotspots total. Now, there are almost always battles going on many continents at the same time during normal hours.
A lot of people complain about the zerg, but I have found more small to mid-sized battles on Emerald after the merge. I usually see one locked continent (with a zerg) and a few other good sized battles going on elsewhere. The only negative so far for me has been more than a few zone crashes. Not sure if those are directly related to the merge or not. However, overall the lag has not been very bad at all. |

It's great because you now can choose the size of the fight you want to go to because you have 1-2 conts with pop lock and several others with hotspots.
As for the zone crashes, they started with a patch on the 17th or 18th, and have been fixed(supposudly).

I miss Konried pre-merger as well. The Emerald VS seem to like cowering in a safe place. I've never had so many people give so little support. At least the towers tend to be well defended.
I just wish that they would fix the FPS issues. The battles have gotten to the scale(and it seems that FPS has gotten worse anyway) that people without surge easily get behind people at the front of the swarm in any indoor battle. And once they get behind the front lines, they warp all over the place and every shot hits the friendly behid them. That's just wrong. |
