according to crucial.com my RAM is "SDRAM DIMM" so am I looking to buy SDRAM or DIMM (Rambus)
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/Produ...ategory=Memory (copy and paste that to have a look for what you think I should get) It also said I had space for a extra 4 memory slots does 1.0GB RAM come in one chip of would I still have to double chip a 512MB to get this. Meaning in total with my existing 512MB i would end up with 1536MB of RAM? |

I can get 512mb PC133 SDRAM sticks for about 45 or so each And Ai'tal, please, if someone is using a UK site for comparison, then they live in the UK, right? So then why suggest an American website to order RAM from, because shipping will be a right bastard and raise the price

What speed are you looking for. Out of curiosity.
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...log=147&depa=1 - 89$ i think, have to click on it. I have no idea how much this converts too in British currency. http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...ductCode=81200 1gig PC133 There were 2 or 3 more 1 gig chips and a host of single 512 133s - 350$ US Last edited by Ait'al; 2004-03-07 at 12:52 AM. |

Model type? We've already established we're going for SDRAM. Price comparison? From USD -> GBP USD+SHIPPING+TAX+everything else that customs throw on = price x lots more, ie - not worth the hassle. (as previously stated) And that $350, 1gb RAM stick, it was registered memory, why bother with that, there's no real performance increase, the only real increase is the cost, he's not running a fucking webserver, so why choose it? So kindly step away from the keyboard and THINK before you go and insult someone, please, this is the second time, I don't want it to happen again.

Yeah, registered is no good, but a lot of gig sticks are registered because they are made for servers. It can drop performance in some cases.
Edit: http://www.pcprogress.com/product.as...6SD1024%2D2100 That is a good 1gig stick. I'm not giving it to you for price, but if you can find that where you live, that would probably be the way to go. Edit 2: Yes yes yes, I'm going with Corsair, but don't think I've changed my Kingston ways. Kingston doesn't make non-registered gig sticks. Last edited by dscytherulez; 2004-03-07 at 11:47 AM. |

And to answer the PC-2100 question, you find me any non generic 1 gig stick of unregistered pc-2700+ memory for under $400, and i'll make you my new god. (Excluding notebook memory and Micron brand, because they blow. |

Hmmm so from what I can guess from the flame war I would be better buying a few sticks of 512MB RAM. Fragmatic I live in Nottingham so postage would not be much to me. It would be cool if we could sort something out, prob won't be for a 2 weeks tho as I need to get paid first I wouldn't mid buying 1 stick to get my 512MB up to that beefy 1024MB RAM.

I wouldn't buy gig sticks unless i was doing a server, they don't have very good timings and 2 sticsk of 512 would server you better.
