Well Unfortunately this next generation (F-22 and other new fighters) of aircraft is most likely the last that will be man piloted.

bullshit. people have been saying for decades that "fighter pilots will need no shooting skills in 10 years, missilies will aim alone" and blah blah blah. computers are nice and all, but a pilot controlling a computer is superior.

I got to see the real thing a couple of months ago. an F-15 squadron here in israel was having a goodbye party for a pilot and 3 backseat pilots, all around 50 yrs old. my dad was in flight school with one of them and so he got an invitation. they flew over our heads a couple of times and then landed on a landing strip about 100 meters away. we where near the hanger. they then taxied to the concrete near the hanger and parked, got out and said hi to all their friends. before all the speaches began we had about 15 minutes to look around the planes. nobody cared if I touched them, as long as it's nothing important or sensitive, and they let people climb the ladder and look in the cockpit. my dad climbed with me and told me what most of the systems do.

it's a moment I'll never forget.

I also got to see a pilot school graduation ceremony that included F-16's throwing water bombs about 300 meters in front of us, attack helicopters blowing shit up, black hawks dropping and then collecting troops, vulcan AA guns blowing more shit up, a hercules short distance takeoff with rockets (owns) and an F-15 flying towards the crowd so low it made more noise then all other things combined, then pull up right when it's over us and fly back where it came from. we also saw F-15 take offs and landings.

at this point there is no way in hell I won't to do everything I can to be a pilot.
