What does Independence Day mean to you?

With July 4th rapidly approaching now is the time to reflect on what the day truely means to us Americans. Is it our celebration of OUR freedom over English opression? That is what most of us are taught in school about the holiday... Or is it the celebration of ANY man's, woman's, and child's right to be free?

To me it is the second choice... for a very long time in the 17 and 1800s America was an example of freedom. In France, the people strived to have had what we have... In England, reforms swept the nation's political system making it more and more democratic. While, yes, July 4th is the celebration of American freedom, it should more be considered the celebration of all freedom over all oppression...

What does it mean to you?

Bah... we have to go to a family reunion type of party... that'll be fun watching as everyone tries to suppress their want to attack everyone else... also to much supervision=no drinking for me...
