It depends..if the game designers are all geniuses and have impressive visionary powers and have somehow balanced the game such that very little tweaking needs to be done during the expanded internal beta, and bugs are far and few between, then it's possible a short beta followed by a short external beta, could precede a late April release. Otherwise May is likely. W00TAH!!

Guess you'll need to play more http://www.natural-selection.org/ to pass the time.

You guys are basing those opinions on beta times for an RPG, FPS doesn't need to test all the little NPC things and merchants and sub-systems and the like. Stresstest and bughunt are the only two things PlanetSide will need to do in its beta. Balancing will almost certainly spill over past the release date because MMO games always have patch programs that make delivery hassle-free for the client and they can't really tell how things will behave until players get their hands on them anyway.

Yeah, I am of the opinion this is all very biased. I personally think they can complete beta in 6 weeks if they wanted to which does hit mid April.

I'm betting 2nd week of May is release date.

But I am really hoping I'm wrong (it's been known to happen...a lot) and it is Q1 2003.
