Me and Eine had a conflict of interest.
I personally LOVE steam, its letting us Half Life 2 on our computers before it is actually in stores, and letting us purchase HL2 and be ready to play when it goes retail without the hassle of installing and driving to the store, and also, it is letting us have access to its entire library of games (even HL2 to play at a friend's house) without the need of carrying CDs or CD cases. Eine, on the other hand, hates steam and can't stand it, he would rather be 5 weeks without HL2, with the option of not using steam ever again. He complains of games crashing and doesnt want to use a separate program to play a Single player game. So, are you for it? or against it? |

while not the only reasons, thoes are 2 major issues.
i'd much reather sierra left HL well enough alone and forgotten about stream. I avoid STEAM as much as possible, and havent played a HL mod (except one night with fragmatic) in over a year. Edit: This is on the current state of STEAM. in the future they may improve it, but this poll is on the current state of STEAM. Last edited by EineBeBoP; 2004-10-06 at 07:32 PM. |

As posted on BGC:
I like steam personally, I havent had much trouble with it at all. With the old HL frame, when you pressed escape by accident, you would have to wait for the game to switch to the menu mode which would take a couple of seconds to nearly half a minute. With steam, it's instant, plus you can still see whats going on in the game. Same with the console, much easier to use since steam. Patching has also become instant and easily implemented. The only thing I dont like about it is the buddy list. It never seems to work right. Overall though, Steam seems to work much better than the old system.

Steam is the worst.

The gun katas. Through analysis of thousands of recorded gunfights, the Cleric has determined that the geometric distribution of antagonists in any gun battle is a statistically predictable element. The gun kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly. |
