Whats so great about SWG?

I don't get it. Why is everyone treating SWG like its gonna be great? Whats new in it? To me it's just another EverQuest / Anarchy Online / Ultima Online / RuneScape / (hundreds of other clones) with the possibility of space flight. Whats the big deal?

its bigger, badder, better looking, you can do far more things in it, its set in the star wars universe.

you also have FAR more things you can do. you are not restricted to combat at all. theres a billion occupations you can have without ever seeing combat. perhaps you would like to open a weapons and equipment shop? hire some employees and you there.
i dont think weve seen as much freedom as SWG is going to have in any MMOG yet

If PS wouldn't be comign out i'd be getting SWG for sure, i agree it's not all that amazing, it is pretty much just another EQ but it appeals a lot more to me than any MMORPGs that have been out so far.

i dont think it has the standard MMORPG combat system either. i think that is more reliant upon skill than level.

People like SWG because:

1) Star Wars = Jedi characters
2) Nine different planets to explore
3) Around 30 different professions
4) Hundreds of different skills
5) Eight species to choose
6) Extremely detailed textures and environments (go watch the E3 SWG video)
7) Space expansion to come out later for it enabling space battles and ships.
8) More species will probably be added in the expansion as well.

Problem is, War Mongrel, is that at this point it's essentially an uber version of EverQuest with Star Wars clothes. Hell, I suspect even the space combat won't support PvP. Somehow. How that'd work is beyond me, especially if they use the Xwing engine (which I somehow doubt...)

Just like Mr. V said they had a great game to start with but they ruined it with stupidity and whiners. They turned it into EQ ruining it.

I don't like Star Wars or RPG's but I am strangely attracted to SWG. Maybe it's the MMO part of the game that interests me the most, but I was watching some of the videos of the game and it looks really cool.
