PlanetSide has competition?

I found a game that looks future warfare like PlanetSide, is someone trying to rack out PS for the first time?

The game looks pretty good, but its a MMORPG, MMOFPS, but it seems clear someone is trying to rack out PS, is this why SOE is making another action SOE, to conflict this game if this game takes PS down under?

could their factor be?

From what I've gathered this isn't a FPS at all, it's the RPG style target and execute moves. It does seem to kinda have a Futuristic Warfare feel, I like the idea of having the Roman Empire in the future, "What if the Roman Empire never fell?"

First off, this game, Conceptually, looks amazing. the idea of a future roman republic in space... well you got me.

now for the but part of the post;
why do you think this is going to be a challange to PS? i don't think gameplay wise it seems at all similar. sure there seem to be guns but i don't think it is going to have the same high-speed base to tower to base conquest kinda fast paced gameplay that we play planetside for. (well, i guess i should only speak for myself here, thats why I play PS.)

i really really reallllllllly don't see this game as even close to the same thing. granted this is coming from quickly checking out the site you provided, looking at the screenies and watching the movie. in that movie however, the gameplay looked a whole lot like DAoC. sure DAoC with guns but still same Shizzle different sizzle.

correct me if i am wrong. i would love to know that there was going to be another game that could replace PS (if PS dies, which is a shame because they could really take PS anywhere, limitless potential really IMHO.) but this one ain't it.

Its not at all the same.

1 Its not PvP. Its primarily PvE but it will have PvP arenas.

2 Its not an FPS.

Imperator is gonna rock sorry to tell ya. Ive been reading up on this game for the past couple months and its going to kick arse. But than again, thats what i said about MxO. This game shows much more promise than Mxo though.

I have been following Imperator for 3 year(yes before it even had a name)- its NOT a pvp game.

Before you get too excited about it find out about DAoC at bit. I like and still play DAoC but has serious conceptual issues that should trouble any PvPer.
