[Video] Transmission line maintenance.

Well the reason I made a post asking for trig help was because I�m studying for a test that should help me increase my chances of getting accepted to the lineman�s union, which is not easy. It�s the �Technical Math� test for the NJATC (National Joint Apprenticeship And Training Committee.) I�ve thought about it and I think I�d like to be a high voltage lineman. Not the electricity lines that go from house to house, the high voltage (110 kV or above) transmission lines.



They�ve always fascinated me. Our culture is always going to use electricity no matter how it�s made we are going to supply it the same way. And with the increasing bad weather we seem to be getting and that most of the transmission lines in this country are older than I am, I think there�s some job security there too. Oh and heights don�t bother me, I love to climb hell it�s one of my hobbies.

But in this job you don�t always have to climb�

Did you see the video I linked to? Doesn't that kick ass? Nothing like riding outside a helicopter to a live 110kV or above live transmission line to python along the line to check the insulators.

My brother has been tiring to also get a job as a lineman longer than I have. I just started, doing tests, ect.

He had an interview for joining the union Monday, and a call for a job offer through the union Tuesday. Had to piss in a cup today but failed the eye exam so he's getting new contacts today and should start working/training later this week. He was thinking it would take months for him to get placed with a contractor.

So hopefully once I get this math test done and take an other test for the union, then an interview I'll be working as a lineman soon. Only 2 tests and an interview stand in my way. I***8217;ll probably fail.
