Well i downloaded the demo, and....I love it, but I cant decide if it is worth 50 dollars or not. Anyone got any insight as to whether its worth it? Because I feel like(from what I saw in the videos) I got most of the experience of the game with the exception of the big fuckin robot things. Is the multiplayer any good? Campaign any good? Is there really a whole lot of other stuff you get outside of the demo(besides the other 2 races)?

The reqs are massive, to make it run really good you need a dual core system.
The game is fun, I am in the same boat though not sure if I want to buy it or not. Jaged an RTS is an RTS what more do you want? Personally - I can't wait for the C&C demo that is supposedly coming out today. |

The Skirmish mode will be worth it alone, I think. The problem here is the map is so tiny.
BUt yeah even on my system it gets hurrting. Especialy when in campain youve got up to your 500 unit limit, 450 of which are all little tanks you just sent into a big enemy base. the other 50 are bombers that just started to drop bombs on said base. Yeah that equals a crash of epic proportions.

I played the beta, and acquired the full version 2 days before it was released.
I like the game a lot. Some of the problems from beta are still there (some crazy build times, but that can at least be solved now with enough engineers), disparity between tech levels (not as bad as it was) etc. Despite, it's an amazing looking game with some pretty cool units and effects. I like how the resource system works (never played TA), and nukes are absolutely awe-inspiring. I like how well they did the naval units, including the versatility of many of the ships (AA, cruise / nuclear missile capable, long range bombardment). Artillery was also pretty well done in this Supreme Commander, though I still think I like how it was done in Ground Control II best. It reminds me in many ways of Ground Control but on a much larger scale. One thing that rather annoys me about Supreme Commander is the lack of any real special abilities or alternate fire mods of the units (with the exception of a few units), but at the same time, it was a bit annoying in Ground Control to constantly manage the mode your units were in. I think one of the most impressive features that I'd like to see in RTS is the automated transport system. It's absolutely awesome to have your factories cranking out units that automatically board a transport which delivers them to the front lines, right at your fingertips and ready to go. Definitely a fun game. |
