If you remember it originally Started as four corporations, so i'd expect they will definitely add another in an expansion, the only reason they might not would be it could upset the balance

I doubt, for balancing reasons, one will be added anytime soon. I can see another faction or two in far off expansions including the discovory of some alien race. Or the reconection with the rest of the empire.

Simply put, no way in hell.

If you create another empire, in the middle of an ongoing game, everyone will flock there, or no one will go. The possible balance issues are immense, not to mention the addition of a fourth empire is pointless and simply overkill.

I don't like the idea of a 4th faction, but here is the idea I do like:

Renforcements!

The TR on the other side finally get the wormhole open again

The ancient alien race comes back and allies with the VS

Freedom fighters on the other side of the wormhole here about the exploits of the NC and ally with them. And the old planet becomes a new battleground.

a "reinforcements" expansion would be a graphics revamp, change in terrian, and the addition of new weapons and vechs. Say, water or space vechs. Other then that, what could they change? add another 3 continents and a 4th faction? Not likely. Add more support from elsewhere in the universe? Possibly, but again not likely. No, i think all we will get is new ways to kill each other and an expansion into parts not accesible now (i.e. space and ocean)

It would be far too ironic that PlanetSide would feature Space combat. I think it would be cool if they added Anti-Pod rocket sytems to bases. It would be hard as heck to work, but you could blow pods outta the sky.
