Laptop monitor Dieing :(

Well, lets see... what have I learned in the past week? Never, ever keep your Laptop on the head bored of your bed and then bring a chick home. It never results in pleasantries other than the chick her self -_-

Needless to say, in the middle of our romp my Laptop fell behind my bed landing closed with the top of the monitor hitting first. It now is failing. Ive been trying to crack this thing open but it just seems that anything I do will break it. I suspect that the connection to the screen is loose inside the case. I can get a small screw driver under the base of the screen case and push on the connection and there is no results.

The biggest issue is a line going right through the screen horizontally although this is an annoyance. Occasionally the screen stops refreshing and individual pixels go white. If I play with the monitor a little and contort it in weird ways it eventually comes back.

Any ideas how to get this damned thing open?

There are kits out there that make it possible for you to replace the screen. I think I read about it on Toms Hardware Guide or something.

The one I replaced was my work laptop before.

I was standing next to my boss and my case was not fully zipped, the laptop came out and smashed on the solid floor face down.. Cracked the screen right across..

We both stopped and looked at the laptop, then each other. Thought I was gonna get fired

I hope its not the screen, Im in tight for spending money right now. Between parts for the jeep, my new phone, and my birthday party Im throwing, Im nearing my fun money limit.

On that subject why is it when its my birthday I pay for the party. Tres lame. There should be a tax break or something.
