So pretty much everyone here has been around the web for a few years I would imagine. Things were allot different when we rolled this website way back in the day, now any 8 year old can have a blog and a twitter account and talk to the entire world.
Back when we started, it was a network of gaming sites, news sites etc that the word got out from. The web has evolved quite a bit with social media and blogging. Once the word got out about PS2 I watched the various blogs start posting the news - some linked to us, others didn't. So the mutual respect is a bit different nowadays also. What do you guys think about "Social Media" like Twitter and Blogging? Anyone run a blog, if so feel free to pimp it. |

I've done a blog or two in my day. When I lived in London for a while I ran a blog with my own domain and everything. Hosted my own pictures and such. It was a great way to communicate with folks back home. Since I've been back in the States, though, the domain lapsed and it's all gone now. Kinda bummed about that, to be honest. Once I graduate and begin traveling again, I'll kick up another one.
I'm not, nor do I think I ever will be, a fan of the Twitter craze. I just don't see the point. I understand that news is traveling fast via Twitter and all, but I don't think I'm going to get on that boat.

I may have started a blog once, but I never wrote anything on it. I only enjoy blogs because it is good to have alternative news sources. We need things to go against big media, and to see different sides to the story; Objective, and Subjective. I choose to look at both sides before I pick one.
I only pay attention to one or two big blogs, but I find it reasonable for anyone to start one, because it's a good way to bring your thoughts to the world (or just your 4-5 friends). I really don't have a problem with Twitter. I choose not to join up because I can't really sit around and follow people 24/7, nor do I have that type of time to write every 15 minutes, to keep the 2 people happy, who would probably follow me. What Twitter does is bring back an older time, where an entire community knew what everyone was doing. This day and age, we are very fast paced and really don't have time to know exactly what is going on in our town, etc. This allows people to reconnect on that type of personal level. Conan O'brian's Twitter Tracker segment is funny, though. Pointing out the useless statements that the celebrities put up. |

The problem is that people really DO tell you EVERYTHING they're doing on Twatter. I don't give a shit if some dude is taking a crap, take your crap and then wipe your ass. Don't twat me about it. I don't go twatting everyone when I'm fucking some girl.

I think you should. Twitter would be good in the sense of current affairs. Something in the news that has constant updates. sure, people don't technically need to know everything that is happening, at all times, but then again other's do. Twitter has been the help behind a couple of large scale riots, in other countries, this year. Whether the riots were truly needed or not, it helped. Everything has it's positive purpose, even if the purpose isn't so needed. Like I said, Twitter isn't for me, but I don't hold it against anyone else who wants to use it... Like Hamma. Poor old sap. |

The difference with twitter as compared to a blog or forum is it only takes about 2 seconds to tweet you are taking a steaming deuce, on a blog or forum it takes noticeably longer.
I think twitter has a place, but I really don't see it lasting as long as a Facebook or personal blogs for example. It seems more like a passing fad than anything else. It is a unique, and interesting tool thats for sure. Personally I tweet on occasion but not everything I am doing like some folks do. EDIT: And that conan skit twitter tracker is classic. |

There's plenty of pointless blogs around, but I'm willing to bet theres a shitload more pointless tweets out there.. haha. That's the thing really - the benefit to Twitter? It's fast and easy. The downfall to Twitter? It's fast and easy. Regardless of what you think about it though it is indeed the here and now so if you want to be successful in the online arena and be seen as "Getting it" you almost have to participate.
