Is this a viable addition to the engineer class? Although every trooper who has ever donned the uniform has had the privilege of filling sandbags (a supreme joy, if you know what I mean ), it could for balance sake be limited to engineers or a cert somehow.
Would this be an interesting addition or an opportunity to camp in locations?

Deployable shields!
I think something like this could make things interesting. Basically every tower and base was the same. The more things that are deployable the better. It can really add some randomness to your attack or defense strategy. |

The more cover available to infantry the better.
Hayoo put a lot of thought into this topic: http://www.planetside-idealab.com/id...acements.shtml |

Its an awesome idea IMO, I like the idea of defenders/attackers being able to dig in. Gives either side more tools to withstand an armour rush or similar. It would have to be implemented very carefully though. The last thing we want is trench warfare.

I like this idea - I think a sandbag like feature would be nice but I think that it's locations should be restricted. For example I don't think people should be able to spam setup sandbags all over the place (like in doorways) it could make for some nasty collision bugs.

As long as the deployable cover stuff is also destroyable by larger weapons, like tank shells, I think it'd be fine with some tweaking. Being able to fortify positions would be cool, but being unable to break enemy cover with heavy firepower would be lame.
