Anyone hear about this and sign up for the beta? I've been very reluctant to try any of the DOTA clones but I'm actually kind of interested in this. |

Played DOTA maps back before it became defense of the ancients all-stars which it was before it became just DOTA. Great game, been watching the live casts despite it being on at 1am.
It's heavily focused on team play without stopping individual skill from making a major difference. Customization is provided by the different heroes and the different ways you can play each with items and the way you level. A lot of depth in that regard. Think of all the fun you have in an RPG of getting items, leveling, and fighting compressed into 1 hour of gameplay. There's ~97 unique heroes so it's REALLY hard for the game to get old or play the same. It's a great game for a group of friends on voice to just hang out with.

I played LoL for a while and it's good but I eventually lost interest like I do with everything. I do, however, keep livestreams up on one of my screens at work whenever there's a tournament on. Moba and RTS are the only e-sports I can get into watching.
Nice to see the Dota2 beta signup is back up. I watched some of the invitational this week and the game looks nearly identical to all of the others. Different engine. Different art. Simpler stat system. I don't know if it's enough to pull me away from LoL. League's art pops more and the devs have clearly shown that they're dedicated to the community. All that Dota2 has going for it is Valve being Valve. No small thing but it's the only shoe they have in the door at this point. Basically, Dota2 needs more shoes. That's all I'm saying. edit: If my grasp of GMT is right (the board says 07:24) the next round of Intel Masters matches starts in a little under an hour here.

The battle will be between LoL and DOTA2. Right now it is impossible to tell who will win. LoL is the only moba game I played, but for all the press i have been reading it will be a good fight for who wins king of the MOBA genre.
My prediction: LoL is an already established game(more active accounts than WoW, i know its a free game, but that still means something) DOTA2 will be a better game but because of LoL's head start it will end up being more popular. |

^^^ Do you think the same could be said about WoW v Rift? The latter is newer and cleaner but the former is entrenched. Both broke the 1million Western mark (iirc wow's western market peaked at 4mil, most of the 12mil was Asia) but WoW's a juggernaut with momentum to spare.
I think LoL and Dota2 will rock on side by side, grabbing people with different loyalties and tastes. LoL's got momentum and Dota2 has both the name and Valve's might. HoN will get choked out and be left to the die-hards.

Unless it's F2P I'm sure LOL will always have more players though. |

Watched LoL the last few hours of work last night. Guess I can watch Dota2 the same time tonight. Compare and contrast.

The champions in DOTA2 seem abit more unique than the ones in LoL.
In LoL, no one really seems to have a really unique move its all some form of slow/knock up/knock back/chained attack/large nuke. Where as in DOTA2 there is a champion that can control the neuteral mobs in the jungle, and the Windrunner has a normal move (non ultimate move) that is a giant skillshot with massive range. I'm an avid LoL player, but the champions and how they handle in DOTA2 just seem abit more interesting. |
