Next up, Airborne School, SFPC, and SFAS!!!!!
Oh man. What an annoying little trip OSUT is. I'm finally back as one of the newest soldiers in the U.S. Army. I graduate on Friday. Ft. Benning, GA was super fucking hot all summer. Heat Index of 110 every day with 100% humidity. It sucked. It's good to be back on PSU, though. So how has the summer treated all of you? |

I spent most of my 4 years at Benning, did BCT there in August-October, then came back after Medic school for 3 1/2 years with an Infantry battalion. You think spending a couple days in the field is bad at a shot, just try going out for 2-3 week long FTX's. You MIGHT get to go back in on the weekends to get a shower and refit. Maybe. It sucks, especially in the summer.
I'd say I needed to go back and restock my aid bag, then haul ass straight for the showers. |

Summer?
Is that the time between Spring and Fall? Can't say that I saw most of the summer. In-laws from Italy came over to spend most of it with us. Which was a cosmic test of patience and understanding. Literally, the 9 seasons that Everybody Loves Raymond was on TV, they touched on about 10% of what REALLY happens in an italian household. I think I would have traded your 8 weeks in Georgia for my 8 weeks with my in-laws.

I'm currently at bragg for sfpc hold. Airborne school seemed like typical big army shit. I only landed really hard once. Sfpc hold will be two workouts a day and thats it. The workouts will be intense and meant to break you off. Especially the ruck runs. 55lb rucks at 10 minute mile paces

My bad. See I've only got one jump. The other eighty-five were just practice. Last edited by Firefly; 2011-09-16 at 05:03 PM. |

What unit were you with man? I was E-2/19 and A-1/50 when I went through. I'm heading to Air Assault in June and WLC in July. God love Benning though eh, thought it sucked once, trying going twice. Being Split-Op I got the honor of pretty much doing it all at 17 then 18.

Never got a chance to do much in the way of schools. When I got to my unit I was at the bottom of the list for those things because I new. Then we went to Kosovo, no chance to do anything there. When we got back from Kosovo they put us almost immediately into training to go to Iraq, wouldn't let anyone go to any schools. Went to Iraq, came back and they said, "Re-enlist and you can go to whatever school you want!" I said "Fuck you, I'm going home."
I never even had a chance to do EFMB, never was actually on Benning any time they had one, was always deployed. Got my CMB though, so that's the one that really counts I guess. |
