1. What is your budget and does that include shipping/taxes?
3000-3500.Including tax and shipping 2. Where do you live? Philadelphia,PA 3. What do you need this computer to do (like gaming, Photoshop, and so on)? Web browsing, gaming, video editing. 4. What parts will you need for the computer? Please list what parts specifically.Everything needed for a computer including keyboard,mouse, monitor,headset,speakers,webcam etc. 5. Are you reusing any parts for this computer? If so please say what parts. None 6. What kind of monitor/resolution do you have or want to get to use for the computer? LCD LED Somthing under 24" 7. Do you have a legit OS? If so what OS and is it 32-bit or 64-bit? Nope 8. What are you looking for the motherboard to have feature wise? Like SLI, Crossfire, Firewire, USB 3.0, Sata 6.0 Gb/s, and so on. Well either Sli or crossfire ready usb 3.0 and Sata 6.0Gbs 9. Any plans to overclock the CPU or GPU? Not really once in a while but not often 10. What time kind of time frame are you planning on ordering these parts? Within a month really. |

For what you listed I cannot even begin to think why you would need $3500 for a 24 inch monitor for gaming and video editing. Either up the monitor size to at least a 27 inch 2560x1600 or bring down the budget to $1.5K to $2K. You can do over kill for that price with a 2600 and 580, but I just can't see anymore then that going into it.

Sweet Jesus you could buy 3 good computers for that.
And that's what I recommend you do...get a good computer now...wait for a product cycle by another ~1.5ker, ect. You'll end up better off with new bits every year than than doing something like SLIing two GTX590, a thousand dollar CPU and having to wait 3 years before you upgrade. Make sense? (for a ~24inch monitor I've got this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824236111 I like it alot)

I would just stick with 24 if you feel that is all you need. I'll make up a computer that is perfect for your resolution right now. Concerning your monitor have you looked into the TN vs IPS vs 120Hz refresh rate debates? There is a lot of options out there for monitors these days depending on the features and how much money you want to spend. If you haven't I recommend looking this up, if you want me to provide links let me know.
If you are intent on getting within a month I highly recommend getting your rear down to Micro Center ASAP! MC is running a $80 off combo with a 2600K and Z68 motherboards, so it is the best deal at the moment for a 2600K. Get this 2600K and this Z68 motherboard. Total for that comes to $423.98 with tax and you have a $20 MIR as well. How much storage do you need? If you will be needing more then 1TB right now I recommend buying it now. Hard drive plants got destroyed by floods in Vietnam, so now there is going to be a shortage causing higher prices. The build I am doing has a GTX 580, so that is good for that resolution. How keen were you on going SLI in the future? If you are dead set for say SLing another 580 that is going to require quite the PSU. If anything I would recommend just going with a 580 with a good PSU and just upgrading to a single GPU down the road when you need it instead of SLI. It allows for future expansion if you ever wanted to mess with multi gpu depending on the power usage. Concerning the accesorcies like kb and mouse I can recommend a few (I'm assuming you are not cheaping out here): Logitech G110 Black USB Wired LED Backlighting Gaming Keyboard - $59.99 I know a few people with this keyboard and they love it. Logitech G500 10 Buttons Dual-mode Scroll Wheel USB Wired Laser 5700 dpi Gaming Mouse - $62.99 I am partial to Razer to be honest, but a lot of their mice have died on me so I have a hard time recommending them as a result. Logitech has better reliability in my opinion. This G500 is a good once and is basically a evolved MX518 if you ever had one. For headsets I would recommend the Corsair HS1 or the . These are a bit expensive, you can still get quality at cheaper prices, but I really do not know of any. As far as speakers, web cams, and other components I am not of much help there unfortunately. Hopefully someone else can come and give feedback on that.

While you have asked for a 24" screen if you have the space then i think you seriously be considering a nice 30" monitor.
Once you have sat before a high quality 30" ISP display there is no going back. While image quality is often what most monitors are sold on as gaming is your main use you will need to keep an eye out for input lag. It is not a spec put out there much so try to find reviews. There can be quite a variance on this from 10 to 50+ ms and TN and IPS can be good and bad, it is largely down to how good the image/comms processor is on the monitor. Axe all that. Sandy bridge E the replacement for the 990x comes out next week. The 990x is now out dated. From the hard drives to the video cards I see a lot of issues with this build as well.
Anyway I thought we convinced you to go for a lesser build with the 2600K and GTX 580? That rig you want to build will do nothing for you at your resolution. You are spending $2,000 more for no reason. I understand some people wanting to go all out, but you do not even have the monitor setup to back it up. Be it a 30 inch 2560x1600 or 3 way monitor setup with 5760x1200.

.....at least I'm not the only one who lost my mind early in the process...... I hope to stay under $1,500 by using my old CM Stacker and my 850W Antec,... What about 2 of the MSI N560GTX-Ti TwinFrozr II / 2GB / 880MHz (I can get them for under $270/ea) I'm set on the 2600K. MB, memory, and GPU I'm still waffling. . . Get the PS2 Gaming Rig listed on this tech form. It's up to date, and should be more than what you need for PS2 and beyond. Save the cash to upgrade to a faster processor when Ivy Bridge comes out and is tested for a while.
The PS2 Gaming Rig I keep updated is designed with your requirements in mind: latest cards, boards, futureproof, and 24" LED. If you have the cash, switch out the cooler for a Corsair H100, or go all out Koolance water cooling, and add an additional 2TB WD Caviar Black HDD or more. Even with no limit, you might want to wait until the 7000 series AMD video cards come out in a month or so, as they are pretty impressive, outdoing most if not all single-core cards out there now.
