Sounds cool but if its true the Galaxy is a flying AMS this time I don't see how ground terrain would matter a whole lot. Unless you really need to capture the bunkers along the way to speed up the base hack time.

Perhaps automated logistics will figure into the picture somehow? Practically speaking the roads wheren't all that valuable in the original game. Although if terrain has greater effects on vehicle handling that may be different.

That flying AMS is going to be an easy target to shoot down until you gain control of the outside of the base. If it lands, it will either be a ways away from the base, or it will be close by and an easy target to find and destroy. It's much easier to sneak a land vehicle close to a base than it is to sneak a giant aircraft in close.

I'm hoping Sunderers are the new land based AMS and that Galaxy spawning is just one option.

I imagine it will be pretty hard to capture a well defended base without bringing in some tanks as well, so choke points will probably be critical, while aircraft will allow for tactical insertions behind enemy lines.

Out of all that I only agree with Tank support. Not having Tanks will be a painful drawback for flying straight to the enemy base.

But generally no its not that hard to just fly straight there. Pretty sure that's been done in Planetside 1 for years. Unless they want to start putting unmanned AA turrets as part of the terrain you can control. Then you really would need to fight your way up the roads.

Looks cool. I am sure the final map will be colored. Colored maps are where it's at. This is probably some sort of overlay layer for some special map effect or something.

COOL

Upper right looks like a warpgate, except there seems to be more structure there, possibly like the concept art we've seen.

Yea first thing I noticed, structures within a warp gate.

And all sorts of structures along roads

"Uncapturable footholds" for sure, conveniently placed within the safety of a warp gate force field.

That bunker/tower in the lower right looks like it's in some sort of Hole-in-the-Wall structure, heh.

Eh, I'm not a fan of the one-tone color scheme. It's too BF3-esque.

I liked PS1's ingame maps, they were colorful and easily shows terrain detail, etc. It would take me longer to decipher this type of map and figure out where to go, as opposed to a colored, detailed map like in PS1.

I also see no text or labels of any sort. Each base should have its own name like in PS1.
