It's been years since I've played Planetside 1; did the Pulsar always lack a stock? Just an odd stylistic thing for me, though without a stock, one would imagine that the gun would be harder to aim. However, despite this little detail, the Vanu are (to me) not only my single beloved faction, but this week's theme has shown that they are STUNNINGLY awesome looking. Can't wait to start hurling some plasma bolts across the battlefield!

Ah, ok, so it DID have a rear stock; that's what I thought. Now, to be sure, the new one looks beautiful, but the omission of a stock seems odd to me.
Perhaps there will be a sidegrade that reduces ammunition in favor of more accuracy and puts a stock on the back or something. |

The only one that might've had a buttstock was the Cycler, which looks like it may have had a retractable one. But even then it was always in the retracted position so it wouldn't do much good anyway. I'm glad that they've added stocks to the PS2 Gauss and Cycler. I REALLY REALLY hope they add one to the Pulsar too cuz even without a significant kick it'd still benefit from one. Almost all SMG's these days have at minimum a retractable/detachable stock, and for good reason. It helps keep the weapon steady when firing, let's you acquire/track targets more quickly and accurately in the ready position, helps you keep on target while on the move, and keeps your arms from getting tired when held in ready for long periods. So Yeah, TRay if you're reading this, PLEASE give the Pulsar a buttstock. Last edited by Erendil; 2011-11-27 at 06:25 AM. |

It's true that their weapons lack recoil, but part of aiming is anchoring the arm/s that hold the weapon. If your arm/hand is basically floating in the air, it will waver more, and the shot will be less accurate, whether or not the weapon recoils. Again, this is a minor stylistic issue; I'm really pleased with the art design of the VS.

Where did you see a buttstockless Pulsar?

The image of "the Pulsar without a buttstock" is on the new PC Gamer article. It's the image of the Vanu in what looks like a shootout on Indar, one's hiding behind a rock, and the Vanu soldier in the foreground is hefting his Pulsar- instead of a stock, the weapon's back has a slope of scales that crest down to the grip.
And yeah, I'm glad to hear that you're thinking about this too, Oryon. Not a huge deal, but something that struck me as odd. |

Fifth photo from the top; the one in the desert at daytime. The soldier conspicuously in the foreground (it's actually a beautifully clear shot of the Pulsar; you can see that it has no buttstock, just a slope of scales running down the back of the gun). |
