My Theory for ps2. PS2 is released. The world of is thrown into turmoil, everyone quits their jobs so they can spend more time playing PS2. Since it is F2P they no longer care about money and they spend all of their time playing. 2012 PS2.

That, and knowing the flight limit box isn't 200 feet means planes can be overhead wile not being close enough to attack you/be attacked by you.(remember, dev's said you could hide aircraft in the clouds, those clouds are HIIIIIIIGH up) /equipfoldingchairandbeercooler Last edited by Justaman; 2011-12-23 at 07:51 AM. |

PS2 will be released. We'll all be mildly disappointed because it doesn't play anything like PS1 did, but we're still happy and reluctant to have PS2. Eventually, it's problems and errors will become more apparent and a few bad decisions will be made by SOE. Eventually the natural circle of the games life will take place and every slightest problem will be the biggest deal and we'll hate it just as much as PS1.
Then they'll release a "combat upgrade" to make it more like CoD so we can get their audience and reintroduce BFRs and the whole game will go to shit. At least we'll have a few months of fun before it's ruined. |

Theoryside is more fun when it's on a specific topic.
My general theory for Planetside 2 is that the devs have a pretty good idea of what they are doing and that I don't really need to sweat most of it until I get my hands on the game in beta. This isn't PS1, so I'm trying to look at it with fresh eyes. The knowledge and history of PS1 will obviously be a valuable reference tool for PS2's design, especially considering how few other MMOFPS's there are, but I believe that comparing PS2 to PS1 is only slightly more valuable than comparing it to any other multiplayer FPS, FPS, or video game in general that's out there. It's always important to draw on knowledge of what has and hasn't worked in the past, but PS2 is going to be a pretty unique game in a lot of ways, even compared to PS1. We just can't know for sure if something is going to work or not until we can actually test it. That's also ignoring personal preference, which may bias a lot of PS1 fans. This is where theoryside comes in though. Input about what little we do know can be a valuable thing for developers. I think it's excellent that this community discusses and dissects every tidbit we can find, agreeing on some things almost unanimously, disagreeing feverishly on others. Rarely does it degenerate into anything worse than people with different opinions debating each other. Theoryside is loads of fun. And just think; Thanks to the 3 year plan, theoryside can continue even after the game launches! Last edited by Xyntech; 2011-12-23 at 12:52 AM. |

ooh predictions. Game will be released with a little bit of grind which will slowly ramp up over next 3 years as players unlock everything and profits plummet. Small patches for nerfs and buffs will continually cycle the gameplay keeping players on their toes. Then mechs will be reintroduced after players petition for them and the game will launch into the best game ever. Creatures will be introduced after 2 years to keep players occupied then content will slowly decrease and dwindle to nothing as SOE focuses on their next game. Populations will stay stable since it's free but everyone slowly unlocks most of the stuff after 5 years of play-time where the game is left with max level characters with all classes unlocked. Populations fall off at year 7 then at year 8 a small dedicated community collects on a site called planetside2-universe.com reminiscing about the good 'ol times. Old man Smedley takes the podium to announce their installment of Planetside 3. The old veterans of Planetside 1 are few with Planetside 2 veterans taking their places to keep the game on track. Photo-realistic gameplay is shown and there are no complaints from anyone.
