I was hoping something more unique, but it seems the devs are being incredibly lazy with this game in many different areas.

The swaying of the gun while running is also just too CoD/BF for me, I hope they at least scrap that for something better.

Well, at least give some ideas instead of complaining just cos the gunplay resembles the worlds most selling shooter games

I hate it when my gun moves if my body does something. Would you prefer the gun to just be stationary in one position no matter what your character did?

I know it happens in BF/CoD as well but, things your carrying will move if you do. This hardly seems like something to complain about.

I think everyone is aware at this point that you hate everything about PS2.

I don't care. I like the gunplay in BF3 and PS1. Win win for me.

People are just being really picky right now. Gun Sway?Every single FPS out on the markets has gun sway like that its just the time period we are in right now.People need to understand this is gonna be a brand new,the time from PS1 -> PS2 everything from feel to looks to sounds gonna be different the faster everyone accepts that easier the transition.SOE and the devs wanna make a hit game so to draw in some of them cod and bf players we are gonna see some things similar.Matt even brought up BF3 several times during the GDC gameplay footage.

The game is gonna be great, but its not gonna play like planetside 1 you can tell just by the videos.

You say that as if the gunplay in PS1 and BF3 are similiar. I heard someone talk about swaying, and that might be the same in both games, but gunplay also includes ballistics and time to kill...from the videos I've seen, it seems like PS2 gunplay is more like BF/CoD in that respect and less like PS1...is that about right or?

Planetside 1 was also a product of it's time. Much like Planetside 2 will be.

At the time Planetside 1 released many of the shooter franchises that were well known were things like Unreal Tournament and Quake; hell even Halo reflected these games in most ways. In 2003 the emphasis was on crazy visuals, over the top weapons, and large health pools to take advantage of them. Because of this Planetside 1 had much of the same, but on a larger scale.

Now fast forward to 2010-2011 as Planetside 2 goes into major development and what kind of gameplay does the average shooter fan look for? The "realism" (I use that term VERY loosely here) of the Call of Duty and Battlefield franchises. Fast, quick TTKs and "realistic" weapons and visuals.

No matter how much we liked the first Planetside, the second one is going to have to adapt to the modern era to some extent in order to survive. And honestly you can see that in the game. YES, it does look closer to Battlefield than PS1 in the gunplay. It has to, because honestly PS1's gunplay is considered slow and unappealing to modern shooter fans.

As for the OP, if the way the game has evolved (or devolved if that is how you see it) does not fit your tastes; then maybe you need to find another game. And I really hate to say that.

But as far as I am concerned it wasn't the gunplay that made Planetside 1 amazing. It wasn't the long TTK, it wasn't the 15 minutes it took to hack a base, it wasn't the classless system or even the animations that played as you entered/exited a vehicle.

It was always the SCALE of Planetside that made it unique. It was the planes overhead, the tank columns rolling over the hills, the sounds of bullets wizzing by as you charged into that courtyard, the sky as it filled with flak as Galaxies dropped soldiers into your midst. That is what made Planetside what it was; and as long as that holds true for Planetside 2 then CoD and BF have a LOT of catching up to do.

Lol.

You're joking, right?

Reducing Planetside 2 to some details taken from modern FPS mechanics shows you're either embittered, stupid, or that you just don't (want to) understand what Planetside 2 is all about: large scale battles and team play.

And saying the dev team is lazy?
That's just trolling. Not gonna feed you.

+5000

I hated, or at least disapproved of, many aspects of PS1. The scale was the only thing that kept bringing me back. They can change whatever they want, so long as the scale and combined arms is there it will be awesome.

I don't get what is so bad about it. As long as each gun has a unique feel to them and is true to the faction that is shooting it then I don't see a problem.
