What the heck is this big Dome thing? (Pic Included)

I saw the corner of a structure simliar to this in other screenshots and thought that it might be how the game handles load zones, but this is far to small to simply be a new zone to load. What is it? A forcefield around a base? Some sort of protective cover?

Sorry if I haven't read EVERY freaking peice of info out there. I've read the official faq and the faq on this website and I don't remember anything about a warp gate, maybe I missed it?

Anyway, what does a warp gate do?

Its a warp gate, and actually yes, that is how planetside handles zoning. These will take you to other continents. And nice pic, havnt seen that one.

edit: obviously I understand that it WARPS you somewhere dumbass, I was interested in SPECIFICS, such as "does it warp you between contients, bases, zones, etc"

It is indeed a warp gate.
Warpgates game function: To transport you from one cont to another faster then drop pods. You can also take vehicles though warp gates.
You can not fire weapons in warp gates and there is no collision so while in one you cant be hurt.
Warp gates power vehicles.

They also look spiffy.
