For those of you that come from Mordor, a.k.a. EU UK Battlefield 3 section, do you think this will be another flop in terms of what's expected, delivered and promised? Will the game go down the same casual road, or will they keep the features that everyone loved about the first PlanetSide?
I've no experience with the old PlanetSide to judge the game based on its predecessor, so what's the 'veterans' point of view on this? |

Honestly, PS1 was a pretty "bad" game from a technical and gameplay standpoint. Which makes the fact that it is many people's (including mine) favorite game of all time even more impressive.
I really have no idea what you are talking about BF3 for, that game is a technical and gameplay marvel. |

BF3 is a gorgeous game, with solid working mechanics. Denying its technical excellence is just silly. The gameplay is great. Guns feel awesome to use and have a great mix of tactical and fast paced. Game balance is about as good as I've seen with something that varied. Etc. etc. The only valid critique I've seen comparing it to previous installments is that there isn't as expansive of a destruction engine. And that was a bad company thing, not specifically a battlefield thing. |

The maps suck(I only play back to karkand). And the teamwork system is completely broken. It's needs in-game VOIP, bigger maps, squad name customization, option for an in-game server browser, and a real commarose. (Not to mention a boat load of other fixes like being able to switch loadouts during killcam) It would also benefit from a commander role but I don't see that as necessary. BF3 is an amazing game. It's just not the BF game I want to play. PS2 on the other-hand is looking fantastic in all aspects. Last edited by Bittermen; 2012-04-06 at 09:31 PM. |

I'm glad you mention that. Another thing I wish you could do is set your loadout for your next spawn while you are alive. Sometimes you just want to take cover and work on that for a second, but if you die, sometimes you get hell bent on revenge and forget to change to whatever it was you were going to change to. |

No.
Battlefield 3 was built up to be a "true successor to Battlefield 2" (DICE's words) so I think people were completely within reason to expect a similar game. Last edited by JHendy; 2012-04-05 at 04:01 PM. |

"Features everybody loved" is such a none specific term. There is absolutely nothing in the game disappearing that people mind about, where exactly is this thread coming from.
Be specific. On another note, I'm soon going to start branding people that throw about the term casual as idiots. This is such an none meaningful way to insult things in gaming these days, it means absolutely nothing. It is a "stop liking things I don't like" insult. PS2 isn't going to be the same game as PS1 by a long shot. |

Never, EVER, listen to what the noisy raging mob online says, it's inherently wrong by being a mob in that it doesn't think for itself, it just follows what everyone else is saying. The game is an excellent game, the game isn't disappointing and it really hasn't hurt fan at all, a small section have blown minor issues up into catastrophic things that really aren't bad at all and the game suffered from a buggy release due to needing to get it out the door. It however is certainly a Battlefield game, and a phenomenal game all round. There is a lot of EA hate right now, there are many naysayers that jump on bandwagons in gaming purely for the excitement and drama. They gravitate to drama like flies to shit. Do not listen to them, do not be swayed by a noisy mob. There is almost always only negative opinion in online discussion of games with respect to casualisations and so on, the people that enjoy the game have better things to do than participate, such as playing the games, as a result the negativity tends to run rampant. The next Battlefield game, more than like 2143 will certainly sell more than BF3, and those same idiots will still pay for it and play it. People will moan all the same. Ignore it. dm Akolyte, Ironmole is successfully baiting and trolling you into an emotional reaction, it's what he lives for on these forums, let it go. |
