Project Glacier

For a long time I had ruminated about potentially using a mineral oil bath as a super cooling system with little maintenance required, but then I had another thought when I was walking through a Sears' appliance section:

What about repurposing a mini fridge to enclose the box?

This guy says it wont work : http://www.overclockers.com/forums/s...d.php?t=373263

But that leads to another thought: a deep freezer

Then of course you have the other intercooler methods.

Thoughts, opinions, experience?

Freezer causes a lot of dry air that is bad for computers as it can cause shortouts from what I hear. Frigdes cause a lot of moisture from what I remember which is bad too. It's possible options but it's a lot of work. Oil or water cooling is the best way to go IMO if you something more then air.

Yeah, I suppose so. At least with oil, I can dress it up in a fish tank and have no issues.

No, but from what I have read up on mineral oil projects its just that. I move my computer between home and my dorm too often to have such a setup. Once I finally graduate I may consider having a secondary computer with a nifty setup like that though. I sell my more modern stuff when I upgrade, so I don't think this will help resale value.

Just submerge it in liquid Nitrogen and your problems will be solved.

I might as well run it in a broiler.
