Some of you may know that Battlefield 2142 was inspired by Planetside 1, but the best thing about it is the Titan Mode. I could see this implented in Ps2. Behold the greatest mode in gaming history:
Any thoughts how would this work in Ps2? |

I'm not sure if you've been paying attention to the game play videos, but capturing bases is very similar to this. It won't work in PS2 because this type of capture doesn't require you to hold all of the points. One of the greatest parts of PlanetSide was being hunkered down with a platoon in a CC knowing that you were the last line of defense. I don't like the idea of holding 3/5 points and being able to capture a base. You need to work for every inch.
PS1 veterans will agree, this carebear type of conquering will not be tolerated. |

DUST 514 is doing something similar to this as I recall(not sure if you can actually get inside the ships themselves during the map, though). And word has it BF 2143 is being developed. I'm ok with Planetside 2 being the odd man out here.
I loved Titan Mode though, 2142 was a lot of fun. |

I had really mixed impressions of Titan mode. The first phase of it - maneuvering your titan and obtaining ground superiority to control the missile launchers on the ground so you could destroy the other team's titan - was great.
Fighting inside of the titan itself consisted of camping narrow hallways with ammo boxes, mines, and underslung AR rocket launcher spam, and it was really stale. |

I believe Titan Mode is actually something Higby has actually talked about. I think he stated how he enjoyed it too, and they will be looking into such a thing, so no worries. There is in fact a chance we will get something similar eventually!

What you're really missing in these videos is the combat taking place on the titans surface, and the combat taking place on the open decks. There were two really open decks if I remember right, a hangar, a drop-pod launch center which also had a point defense control room. Those fights were brutal, it was all cqc with utter waves of hot lead coming down hall-ways. I miss those days. |

I would prefer if there was a titan in the game it should be something that requires alot of air-to-air firepower to bring down. infact, i think that's what the Titan's biggest threat is suppose to be: Total air dominance. Of course, it's huge drawback is that it's slow as molasses, while actual air fighters can move around in a jiffy. It's only a real threat when it joins the battlefield of a defending base that's too hard to control. It could be like a air control and AMS in one.
But another thing i would like: If empire resources are the real deal, it would b e neat to see the entire empire fork over some cash as a collective means to build a Titan. the other empires would love taking down the hard earned cash cow that is the Titan in my opinion. I never played bf2142, looks like I really missed out. Here are some of my ideas as well as some of the ideas I like that others have brought up.
-Can only be spawned and controlled by an Outfit leader, or any of their officers they give this privilege to. -Would cost so much resources (outfit points?) that major outfits could only afford to construct them once a month. -turrets that could be destroyed and repaired -One or two air pads without the ability to construct galaxies -The ability to spawn vehicles other than sunderers and drop them in cargo pods, except when too close to bases or other buildings -Vulnerable from all sides after aircraft takes down shield generators -Could be boarded and destroyed -Only 1 per empire allowed near a single base |

Not that those won't exist in PS2 without it, though! |
