Are you unable to kick a faction off of a continent? Conquest has only just barely had an overall goal... Which was to annihilate the opposing factions. Even though it is all but impossible, it was still there. After taking that ability away, what is left?

So if you own all the territory on a continent and have pinned the other two empires into a warpgate - that is not considered successful conquest?

Not really. They still have a foothold on your continent.

And yet you called it "your continent" - why is warpgate camping not enough? Why must they be denied the ability to play on 1/3 of the game world in any capacity?

Yes. And you can keep them pinned into it, just like you'd have to in order to sanc-lock an empire.

All footholds mean is that you can never lock away content. Which is a good thing, since we don't have nearly empty servers that can fit onto 2 or 3 continents while another 7 or 8 go unused.

We want full servers where all of the continents have battles raging, be they in the middle of the continent, pinned into footholds, or desperately trying to avoid being foothold locked...

Really I don't see this as much of a change, all this does is make it were you don't have to take over key points on other planets to start the invasion.

They just cut out the middle man of rallying together at sanctuary.

I honestly believe that the footholds aren't going to work, and that Sanctuaries will be added in Beta. I'm prepared to put my foot on my mouth if it turns out im wrong though.

yeah i cant see it coming that close anyways. once the 3rd team see's one faction spread 3/4 thin across another continent, their gonna zerg right through that for easy caps until you decide to stop camping someones foothold lol

You... act as if they didn't do that in PS1...

I think A lot of people are blowing this out of proportions.

There only 3 maps from the get go... going purely by PS1 logic... then you could never have fully pushed anyone out any way, cause all 3 maps would have been connected to the Sanc warp gate.

Plus you act as if any side will ever own a planet for a day or so.. no were talking an hour tops even with Sancs in at least with only 3 planets it will be that way.

I would really like to see each faction get their own continent along with other neutral continents. You can't get onto that faction's continent unless you Either fly there or capture a rift gate leading to it.

That way, players can actually fully control a continent.

I actually will admit I'm going to miss Sanctuary and that, even though it was annoying, I'm going to miss lattice links between continents, so that if you were ever kicked off one, it's gonna be tough to get back. Footholds are nice for keeping the fight going, sure, but I just don't feel the same amount of threat for losing a continent anymore.
