I don't really like the GG concept returning in PS2, but I believe that the Gal would fit the Bomber role just about perfectly. Give it three Ball Turrets (Nose, Tail, and Dorsal) and a Bombardier who controls Phoenix style guided missiles or some equally engaging weapon system (laser guidance?). Disallow the Bomber configuration from being used instead of the Dropship Gal, by removing all passenger and respawn systems.

You could still use the GB like a Gunship, but not like a GG aka flying Heavy Tank.

Dumb-bombs unless target is lazed by another vehicle/infantry would add some teamwork to it.

Experienced bomber would still hit things by just timing the drop properly, but 100% accuracy would require more than 1 bomber in the sky killing everything it sees.

I'd like to see a high-altitude anti-armor solution, either a small gunship or a bomber similar to PS1s lib, but with laterally AND horizontally sightable bombs.

I support anything that adds turrets to a Galaxy, especially ball-turrets. And I would love to see the return of bombs... and if they were dropped by a Galaxy.. well.. that means I get to do more stuff hahahaha!

I don't support any bombing concept that doesn't involve the pilot dropping the bombs. Also as much as I like customization the Galaxy is already a formidable troop transport and a spawn point. I'd really prefer to know what a vehicle is by looking at it and allowing the Galaxy to specialize into 3 rolls is going overboard.

Why not just replace the mortar gun (and gunner) with a bomb payload controlled by the Liberator pilot? I mean the Liberator was the bomber and all...

Definitely like the infantry based laser guiding system though...it would add some teamplay and tactics to regular old bombing...Another convenient use for the infiltrator too I would say!

Now THAT'S spotting!

That's exactly what I'd prefer. Turns the liberator into a 2 person bomber quite easily and makes it distinguishable without the mortar and front gun. With the lower polygon count they could also snap on some extra rockets for the tailgunner to keep him busy. And we come full circle to the Vulture variant.

Nice...I'm really pumped about the idea of the (optional? upgrade?) ground based laze as well...I think it would add a lot of depth to the game without costing a lot of resources to do...if that were polished it would be wowing people, and it seems like there are a good amount of people that favour the idea.

It would add a whole new element of tactical ground play and raise the value of the infil. I could see people certing for that specialization, as well as counter certs (spotlights, counter-spotting, etc), and could be a role that light assult might be able to do, as they seem like they could use more specific roles.
