Free To Play...is it Just me?

Hey guys new here but 6 yr vet from Markov. Anywho from watching the E3 vids I heard Higby saying that we are not even going to have to pay for the Game Client when we download to get the game!
I'm going to feel bad just playing it by downloading it and would want to donate $50 just because I CAN play the game. There should be a DONATE feature on PS2.com and depending on the empire your registered with then could make a contest out of it. Empire loyalty all the way. Independence through FORCE!

That's all well and good, and good on you for wanting to support the game, but don't say you feel bad for something being given to you. There's a line between gratitude and self-deprecation, man.

Just buy $50 worth of store items when the game comes out and that will be all the donation SOE needs

After they took your PlanetSide 1 sub money and spent it on EQ2? They let PS1 die, so long as they had another title on life support to inflate the sense of value in their all access pass model. Spare parts for 25 years. Who cares if it worked or not?

I would never donate money to SOE or any other big business for that matter.

Wait... So, I don't have to pay for online monthly play, but now I don't even have to buy the game?! Or do I have to spend 50 bucks to buy the game at Ebgames or something?

No. Free to play means no purchase cost and no subscription fee. You can play the game without paying at all.

Yes. Dreams do come true.

An aspect I feel is important to point out (it's in the FAQ thread I think, but still) is that the purely cosmetic items WILL be obtained only through real world cash in the current model. So things like those little devil horns they had on their helmets and other such things currently are designed to be obtained only with real money.

Anything that has REAL impact on the game is completely and totally free. You unlock them with points you get playing the game (and some of them can be bought with real money, if you're rich/impatient).
