what do you think, do you think that infs should have the ability to false spot? this would have to be limited but if an inf could false spot to confuse the other team's leading into better ambushes. this false spotting will appear on friendlys as a false spot but enemy's as a normal one

i dont think so, i saw in some interview its area and inf will be able to spot further and broadcast further, i might be wrong. but it would be cool for an inf telling ppl that there is a guy round that corner but in fact he is around the other. getting them from behind

Awesome idea, although tieing it to a hacking cert, i.e. putting red dots aka 2D-spotting on the minimap when the Radar facility is hacked with a virus sounds like a better idea to me.
Manually putting false spots on the map doesn't sound like a good mechanic to me, so I didn't vote. Still, thumbs up for creativity and e-war. |

Interesting idea, a ghost radar blip, if an infil sets up a radar posts or jammer somewhere. It might generic static for enemy radar instead, causing momentary flickers of where the enemy is. Nasty effective, would be a big target of course.

Do you mean setting decoys? Because there's really no reason for that when you can just have a squad or so of players execute a feint to attract enemy attention away from your main force.
The beauty of a game like this is in all the built in mechanics you don't need in order to be able to do things like that. Jammers might be nice, so long as you don't base it on numbers (i.e. "I have a level 5 jammer but the other guy has only unlocked a level 4 radar so he's screwed"). Something like having a few different types, maybe 3 or 4 (and matching radar types obviously), and only being able to block one type at once in a given area (fluff: "interfering fields of effect" or some such, try to drop every kind of jammer in one place and they just won't work), or you can block several but at reduced effectiveness. Would at least give a reason for picking different aircraft radars, although that said devs have probably already thought of it. Last edited by ZaBa; 2012-07-07 at 07:44 AM. |

I hope 3d spotting isn't in PS2
If it is, I want to see it countered in as many ways as possible. In BF2142, snipers could drop a device to give a false spot on the enemy minimap... it wasn't very effective though, since a sniper would basically have to drop it then run across the map to get range on anyone who went for the bait. In PS2 though, melee ninjas would tear some sh*t up with it. I 100% approve of a large radius spotting jammer as well. The other classes have great team-utility abilities (except maxes) and it'd be nice to give something to the infil as well. |
