Thumbs up Bayonet for a melee attack option

I read a topic on discussion regarding the current/possible melee attack options, but I think that the best one is to be able to equip your weapon with a bayonet instead of equiping a normal knife ( would use the same slot though).

It makes more sense this way too. From a combat perspective it is the most logical way to "knife" somebody since you don't put your weapon down, and it would be very interesting since knifing people becomes boring after a while. Stabbing them with your main weapon though, completely different story!

So, what do you guys think?

I would use a bayonet daily in PS2 if it was available. Could you link a cool picture of a bayonet for us?

Would be awesome if the quick knife was actually a quick stab that took 2-3 stabs to kill a person. Considering the speed of bayonet, and the grip one can have on their gun, this is more than likely possible.

Geeze, this is the SECOND bayonet idea thread created after someone went through my knife poll.

It's been posted before, so try the search option next time. Yours is presented better though.

His was a bit different. He opted to have a bayonet sidegrade, whereas I wanted to make it like an equipable weapon ( same as how some people wanted the knife).

And yeah, I think that if you use the bayonet it should take 1 stab to the head or 2 stabs in the chest or 3 stabs anywhere else to kill somebody at full hp ( of course not the heavies or max units).

So what happens if you have both a bayonet and an underbarrel grenade launcher/shotgun on?

Knife is better imo, this could be sidegrade for LA and HA rifles...

I think a bayonet would take the place of any underslung attachment. It would change how quickly you could swing your rifle and how quickly you could look down the iron sights. On the plus side I think it should always be available for melee and it should be able to kill up to HA with a headshot. Bayonets would look sick on the battlefield.

I like the idea of bayonet as the "quick knife/stab" option.

Regular knives are then used like in PS1.

Then we can end the debate.

Fantastic bayonet pics. My favorite is the second from the top.

Re: Bayonet for a melee attack option

A bayonett would give a battle rifle a very nice option. This is something I could see going to the assault classes. I think this would work very nicely with light assaults too. A light assault would be able to flank and get close enough to make a bayonet worth while. Swooping into the enemy on your jetpack..you gun one down..you run the second guy through..jet away to safety..
