Aircraft landing restrictions?

Searched and didn't see anything clarifying this.

I was watching the latest Beta walkthrough (thanks Hamma!) and while looking at the massive landing pads on the bio-dome, I started wondering...what if I could land a Galaxy on the roof? What if I could land one on a wall? Ramp?

I played some PS1 the other night and was rudely reminded (by having my vehicle near-instantly despawn underme) that even touching the landing gear to anywhere other than a landing pad or the ground is forbidden. Has anyone clarified how and where aircraft can land in PS2? Can light infantry jump up to the top of a wall to escape into a Galaxy Gunship coming in to rescue them? Could a light infantry land his/her Mossy/Reaver/Scythe on a roof or somewhere out of the way, jump down to hack something, then jumpjet back up to his vehicle and take off again?

Bottom line - are there going to be zones of automatic "no landing or you will be instantly (or within 5 seconds) deconstructed", or could someone say, land a Galaxy on the roof of a tower to pick someone up? SOI for bases should prevent a galaxy from deploying on a roof as a mobile spawn point but I see no issue with being able to land for repairs/loading/offloading troops.

Pretty sure you can land anywhere you want as long as it's a big enough area to stop the aircraft from sliding off.

This is pretty much correct. Also, you will explode if you land on a tree or rock.

During the Totalbiscuit footage you could tell that if you try to land on uneven ground and if you didn't land carefully you could take damage. Also at one point he landed on a very slight hill and the Liberator nearly rolled over.

We've also seen upside down mosquito's on roofs during other footage. So one thing is clear, it won't despawn your aircraft like in PS1 if you land on a building/uneven terrain, however such a landing would be VERY difficult.

Note that even when TB's liberation was awkwardly parked on the ground (nearly tipping over) his squaddies could still get in just fine.

And it's worth noting that you can enter a vehicle from any side in PS2, not just near the cockpit if you are a pilot, or a side door if you are a passenger etc. Not a huge fan of that bit.

What's the despawn timer for unattended vehicles? That'd be interesting if the air cav brigades go to resecure or hack a distant base they'll need an air cav parking lot.

This might be a bit off topic.Have you notice That once you land on the landing pads in PS2 ,like at a tower . You have to jump down off the pad,but there is really no way to get back on that pad to get back to your craft and fly away ,in less you LA.I have never seen a video of somebody landing on the pad and just walking into the tower

I imagine they will add teleporters at some point. At least I really hope they do otherwise you would pretty much HAVE to be light infantry to pilot, lol.

That always has seemed like an odd design choice to me, too. I hope they figure it out before release.

Landing is actually really easy in PS2 as long as you are a good judge of speed and vector. Imagine rolling on the ground and up a slope at just the right speed and direction to make it into a hole without over shooting it. That's what touching down on a landing pad feels like...but heavier.
