you wish that was true Sorry that's not what happens tho maybe you'll find a server full of TR randoms who will do what you wish tho. the rest of us will be winning as usual

Ah, missed this. Was playing Dota2 that whole night and totally forgot. Shame on me.

At 1:11 you guys are talking about the offline tutorial. I actually spent some time with it after several years of play and it had basically become impossible due to patch changes that edited how AMS deploy.
The tutorial loaded up a version of planetside where you were the ONLY player and then ran you through things like, sanc, terminals, instant action, respawning at bases/towers, and the VR areas all with a giant floating arrow pointing you in the correct direction. (it also had a harasser with no gun [which I can't seem to find my screen shot of]).
The system was removed when it was replaced by the ingame tutorial that you can find in your character menu under the far right tab "training missions" (if memory serves). This new system is a series of things that familiarize players with some of the menus but really lacks any of the originals wholesale explanation. (For respawning at a base they had a TR MAX kill you right outside of spawn)

Summery: PROPER TUTORIAL GOOD! DO IT.

As for mission system trolling, I can't wait to see instructions telling people to plant minefields in the ocean.

Sancs/Footholds agree with the majority on this. End goal/victory desirable.

Might use orbital ships as Sancs. Would love the ability to drop squads/vehicles.

Empty cont and leave it to the players to drop bases down from orbit? Sounds like one hell of an expansion. Trying to envision how that would work with the territory system. The problem I'm seeing is with the topography. Unless you have the whole cont flat its really hard to have things land and take up territory and the way they're going with handcrafted conts I don't see that happening. For example, say you have a hex. That hex needs be able to accommodate any one of the the base structures as players could drop a tower or base or something else entirely and it would have to accept it. I don't see a way of doing this without skimping someway on the content that's player created. (forcing towers to go here and bases their rather than a free form battlefield.) (Also being able to drop a tower from orbit as a weapon should be a viable option for a rich enough outfit.)

I'd actually say that it would be easier to have player created Mines. Think about it, you could have an outfit underground base. How cool is that? (Planetside meets Dwarf Fortress! Be still my beating heart.)

HUD colors: I remember that they said they had tested giving players control over HUD colors but there was some issue with reading things or something so it's not in atm.

Orbital strikes: They have a resource cost now and are treated similar to grenades but we really don't know anything about cool downs/aoe etc so don't scream and run around in circles.

Artillery is in the game in a form. But I'm not going to tell you where or how to get it to work.

Actually had a long discussion with a friend several months ago over having a infantry based ship vs. ship battle and what you would do in it to make it absolutely kick ass for everyone. But that's a whole other thread in and of itself, I definitely agree that I can't wait to see a Planetside version of it. (make sure they've checked out Allegiance before they go into making it. Shattered Horizon might also be a good game to look at. [quick disclaimer, I have little play time with either but they're both right up this kind of ally.])

Future Proofing: It is awesome. I remember one of the articles on this was talking about how Crysis was joked about how it could make a machine break down. I never saw that as a bad thing and it was as badge of honor for the studio.
