The way the game plays now, I think the command cert tree approach would be best.

"Certing" into command features sounds kind of.... odd. There's no real reward there. Who knows, maybe they will add customizations you unlock through successful squad missions etc. |

The problem with command rank was that eventually pretty much everyone had AT LEAST one CR5.
Part of that had to do with lvl caps. Once you were max battle rank, you weren't sacrificing anything by squad leading for command experience points. In PS2 you will be sacrificing certs you could have put into weapons or vehicles for command abilities. Now, you will probably at some point hit the level where you have all the upgrades you want and could start randomly certing into command. However, we can only hope that the SOE release cycle for new weapons/attachments/vehicles keeps you from getting there too soon.

There's always that "who needs squad leader for CEP" going on in PS1. Bad gameplay element. |
