since its been sort of confirmed that the devs are looking into space battles, who would like a share of this but for planetside 2 ? :V imagine instead of a 10 men galaxy a 100 men warship :O and all can man ze turrets!

It's gonna take one hell of a lot of power to do.
If it WERE implemented, would they focus more on the battles between fleets, or Planetary Command... ie. a territory control system like in the current game setup? There's lots of stuff that can be done, but each has its different limits. Might be risky to explore this path. |

Been lurking here for a while, the mention of Jumpgate Evolution made me register so I could also pay my respects (RIP JGE).
I would love to see space battles (even if they were created with similar physics to what we have in the vehicles that already exist in the game so that less work has to be done for the engine). I long for an online game with epic space battles, but I highly doubt something like that would make it into this game... it just seems like too much. I think this game is targeting the FPS player market, and a fair bit market isn't that interested in flying around being the main activity in the game. Sadly, I believe space simulators are a niche market, but here's hoping it makes it into Planetside 2 at some point in the future |

I know what I want to see when it comes to space wars.
Space ships that can carry up to a platoon of troops. Starfighters with blazing speed and packing some heat. A multi server unified space zone IE Eve Online. The creation of server planets that will unite the entire playerbase in one solar system. Where every Auraxis is its own planet that can be travelled to and the enemy engaged on their own home planet. Im asking for a lot from these developers and I think they can do it. |

You know Titans from BF2142? If they open so that you can travel between continetns overseeas they could have something similar to titans to transport and assault people on other continents, then titan vs titan battles would be something like that. They could make it so that you can only pull titans on continents where you own 100% of the continent and the long traveltime overseas makes it balanced (of course they would also implement so that you can now capture whole continents).

According to the planetside lore, there should be a whole bunch of orbital stations surrounding Auraxis, so perhaps we can have one 'continent' whose terrain is replaced with SPAAIIICE, and whose bases are replaced with those orbital stations and really big capital ships, and even some asteroids as capture points.
It would add a fresh spin to the strategy and gameplay as emphasis would be placed on air strategy- since aircrafts would be the only form of transportation to those bases; infantry would still be just as important because they would still be the guys landing on and capturing the floating bases -all the while the three factions are warring it up a la the opening scene of Star Wars episode 3, for air superiority, so that their Galaxy drop ships can get through to land those troops and capture the base. This could even be more viable solution to the 'naval warfare' dilema, so it kills two birds with one big, heavy, ACME, awesome, stone. it must be done. Higby liked naval warfare idea a lot, it seemed(one can even find it in PCgamer-April)
And Smed mentioned EVE online a lot when he talked about PS2. He also said that he likes the 'seamlessness' and in-out approach when it comes to expansion. |
