And by must be fixed I mean if you don't do it, nobody is going to play this game for more then a few months.
-infantry combat is not technical at all. It requires no strategy and is extremely boring Which bring up my second point -the indoor combat is incredibly weak. This is a modern shooter, you have to get the indoor combat correct. Give us the feeling planetside did, "the alamo" style of holding down a base. Vary the size of rooms, add more small rooms, add hallways, add cover, ect -bases need walls so it actually feels and looks like a base.. come on SOE whose idea was it to remove walls. If you are in some global war, why would your base have no perimeter just welcoming enemies? Would the US do that in Iraq? No.. -SOI, I don't know if this is in yet but it needs to be, I haven't been participating in beta for awhile now because.. The game is boring. And sometimes the truth hurts but that is what you need to here. There is some major gameplay issues mainly around infantry combat. I played the beta for two weeks, I have been playing Planetside since 2004. I'm not on here to complain, I want this game to succeed and that why I am being real with all of you. Unless the infantry combat is god d*** spectacular and it keeps you hooked for hours on end, the game will die in a few months when the next big AAA shooter comes out. And please don't say beta, because this goes way beyond that, this is the foundations of the game. To sum up my review: MAKE THE GAME REQUIRE STRATEGY AND TEAMWORK TO BE SUCCESSFUL |

Well, it's always a question of being in the zerg spot.
How to have infantry fun in PS2 cbt: 1: Find the zerg 2: Participate in the zerg 3: See step 1 This game is awesome because of the huge zerg's. If the bases had an insane amount of cover, they would never be taken since defending them would be easy once you would have every little crouche-cover walls manned. |

Whenever i read one of these threads, i wonder. How much have you actually played before you got this opinion? Or did you have it all along allready?
For me infantry combat is leaps and bounds ahead of PS1. Because of obvious reasons (no 3rd person corner camp, choke spam aoe weapons, retarded cone of fire, universal soldiers) and because i actually like the lower TTK, because it makes your skill shine more. Killing 2 or more in PS1 is almost impossible due to the high TTK. As for organization, yes if you are just randomly walking into a battle people seem less helpfull than in PS1, but thats because you have less static chokes. And if you play in a squad of friends im guessing this will be different. The main problem with the game i see is the overall meta game lacking substance, because the beattle for a continent never ends. But im hoping this is just due to the fact that we only have one continent to play on for now. This problem probably wont be solved till we get like 10ish conts, but that will be a while i guess. But im hoping for the best. Ofcourse the game has a path to go before it will reach it's true potential, but from what i've seen so far im very pleased indeed. |

What's with people being against bases being camped? That's kind of cool, doesn't anyone like the uphill struggle into Normandy? You'll tell better stories if it was harder to achieve something than if it was easy. A base having people camp it and succeeding just means a victory will be that much sweeter when you kick those bastards out of their doom fort.
If it isn't difficult, it isn't epic. Tolkien didn't have the great eagles drop the ring into mordor because that would be a shitty story. The trials and tribulations of the hobbits (Terran) travelling to Mordor (Zurvan) and dropping the ring into the volcano (taking down the base generator) are only impressive and brag worthy when they're extremely hard to achieve. Easier to defend bases make for more awesome assaults. The defense will get hard once the attacking teams start making strategies to bypass the defenders "easy defends". If you can think it, you can break it. Last edited by Lucifarus; 2012-09-20 at 03:36 PM. |

I really wish they would honour the original more instead of trying to make it into the stereotypical modern shooter. |

Yes it can be boring i agree whit The Kush !
How to fix some of the problems : - Better battle information system aka "show me where i need to go and be helpful" - the current one needs complete redesign - base capture time needs fixing - "i cannot respond in time and when i respond enemy has gone "[/B] - SOI need to stimulate team/squad play - i had so much fun whit random squad BUT it took me time to find it (from zerg perspective) - more engaging base capture mechanic - no more " herp derp i capture base by myself " - or insert something like hack mini-games for capturing ( deus ex human revolution door opening hack minigame ) not to just sit at "pole/node" for 5 min - capturing has to require some skill ! ! ! - better base layout to have LONGER more epic/ hard fought battles - more walls, more corridors, more cover - more rewards ( bonus types ) for attackers/defenders- capturing biolab gives me access to combat pills ( something like stim pack from SC2) - "why to defend that base " - greater reward for support classes -especially engineers ! - PS2 is awesome but it needs fixing ( OK ITS BETA I KNOW ) Last edited by elementHTTP; 2012-09-20 at 05:03 PM. |

No it's not. Because if they where not there 1 engineer could just put up a turret and kill every one as they exit form the teleporter. Now when there are shielded doors on the room you can gather up first before exiting giving you at least a fighting chance to brake the siege of the doors.

Teleporters and jump pads need to be removed and replaced with closed in stairwells just like PS1 because that shit would never get camped. It might take a minute to get up into the Biolab but since it's not a teleporter or jump pad, you would have no worries about getting camped at the top.
