So what's the deal with this? Iv just started playing with a group of others and my frequent crashes which I thought were my computer happen to all of us simultaneously who happen to be in the same area. So now I'm positive it's not my computer and either something within the servers or an exploit akin to lag droppers of SC2.
Has SOE even acknowledged this at all? Are they even aware of it? Or am I totally crazy here? This is incredibly frustrating because sometimes I can go all day without it happening or it will happen back to back multiple times an hour and it's ALWAYS in an area of high congestion. Furthermore, I didn't crash once between launch and the 21st when double exp kicked in. Not even during the first double exp weekend so whatever is causing it is new. I didn't experience crashing until the last major patch came out, the one where they put Decimators in the game. I figured it was attributed to that and didn't think much of it, but supposedly there is a rumor going around that says its actually an exploit. However, no one has brought forth any evidence to my knowledge.
Most logical answer would be it is simply a bug with the latest patch. AboveTopSecret answer would be it is an exploit being used by Vanu players. The real root, however, could be Vanu itself. Last edited by RykerStruvian; 2012-12-28 at 06:38 PM. |

But on a more serious note, I didn't suspect anything at all until it happened to more than 5 of us at the exact same moment and now I have a lot of suspicions of it being player caused. I was asking others about it and was directed to this thread on the official forums http://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/i...6/#post-919161 So I guess case closed, but it still doesn't make my game any more playable since the moment I get into a big fight I crash and then I just simply stop playing because I'm too annoyed by it at this point. I was crashing a lot during last week yet there were times I wouldn't crash yet others would. It is pretty obvious when the crash happens only because a bunch of vehicles and people are stuck in a single position. There was even a drop pod stuck above Tawrich for at least a day :\

Used to happen loads in Beta, back then at least I believe it was the physx engine crashing and taking clients with it, we'd often have a sunderer full of outfit members suddenly crash all with the same physx crash report.
Now maybe someone has figured a way of causing the client to crash in a similar manner, maybe it's physx again? Be useful if people who experience this could see in event viewer what caused PS2.exe to crash? |
