Hi, im new to planetside and I can't seem to decide which faction I should choose? Im not new to fps as i logged a considerable amount of time cod, bf and bl. Usually I like to work in a squad. I dont know if it makes any difference but im usually the one running ahead to capture the objective/flag etc. My indecision is between the TR and the NC.
Can anyone help point out which faction would suit me best? |

DO NOT CHOOSE NC!
Their guns and vehicles are extremely subpar and/or crap compared to VS and still pretty bad compared to TR. To be honest you should choose VS, but if you're fixed on those two, take TR without a shadow of a doubt. TR guns are at least reasonably accurate (not as much as VS) and their ESF isn't a waste of time unlike NC. |

Don't listen to FreeSpeech, NC has issues but it's not the end of the world like they're making it sound. Barring some questionable stuff like Reavers (they're subpar compared to Mossies and Scythes) and some of the default weapons, if you're an experienced FPS player NC isn't too bad (newb-friendlyness is where NC falls down as a faction, generally).
Anyway, it all depends what sort of weaponry you prefer. TR is all about high fire rate and large magazines, whereas NC is all about slow fire rate and hitting hard. However, you can sidegrade somewhat to other weapons that fit outside those themes a bit (somewhat in that they're never going to be as good as the weapons of the faction that specialises in that area), so you're not so limited to picking a faction solely on one or two features. Both are pretty decent in close quarters, so if you're running ahead to get to objectives in that sort of situation, either is a decent choice. NC lose out a bit, accuracy-wise, at mid range compared to TR (but everyone loses out at mid range to VS anyway), generally due to cone of fire blooming. |

In PS2, despite what forumside crybabies will tell you, by far the biggest factor in deciding the outcome of a 1-on-1 between any two players is skill, not the color of your codpiece. So pick the faction whose ideals / aesthetic you prefer.

pffff woodman is the poor mans Miller,
If your stuck between choosing TR & NC then I suggest you ask yourself 1: Do you want to look great in a spanky uniform? Yes = TR no = NC 2: Do you want to be part of something greater than yourself? Yes = TR no = NC 3: Do you like DAKA? Yes = TR no = NC hehe well whatever you choose I do salute you for making one great choice, not choosing VS

Do you want to be able to hit anything?
Yes = Vanu No = NC Do you want a fighter plane that's less mobile, less damaging and less armoured than all the other fighters? Yes = NC No = VS or TR Do you want a team that actually ever does well on any of it's server zones? Yes = TR No = NC |
