I have finally gotten my joystick to work with planetside 2, and I noticed a small problem. The controlls are insanely sensitive, even with minimum sensitivity. Aiming is a nightmare (which was why I wanted a joystick in the first place) Can anyone offer any help outside of "work with it?"

Joystick support is intrinsically broken since release. That is, this was not always the case as flying with joystick and rudder worked quite fine in the last couple of weeks during beta. But then they completely botched up the response curve of analogue input. Presumably, this regression was introduced (w/o any technical necessity, rather laziness) when they revised the flight axis control via mouse.

Why haven't they fixed it then? It sounds like it could be fixed in six seconds flat. It really is an annoying problem. On my first try I moved my joystick a millimeter and my mosquito straight up did 3 barrel rolls and exploded, taking a galaxy down with me.

The scary thing about it is that if it is sensitive enough to make a mosquito do the kind of wipe outs like I did (3 barrel rolls in .5 seconds, small circles, and other things that made me dizzy), I can't imagine what it must be like to do this with a scythe.

I been flying with a joystick, but alas my aim is off, the vehicles do not respond in the manner I believe they should, and quite frankly while I find it better than how I fared with mouse and keyboard, it is still quite terrible.
I have just about given up on aircraft except as fast transports, trying to fly with mouse and keyboard is crazy. Though... perhaps I should try flying like that in Freespace and then go back to Planetside 2 and see if the skills transferred over. lol |

One thing that the sensitivity does help is flying Galaxies, which the outfit I am planning would be using a lot in mass for air cavalry. Seriously, with a joystick, Gals fly like an ESF SHOULD fly with a joystick.
Speaking of which, anyone who is an outfit leader please check out and maybe answer my questions on my post on new player questions about starting an outfit. (http://www.planetside-universe.com/s...580#post889580) |
